RA and UPSC

HI ladies it's been a long time since I posted here. My Mom was diagnosed with UPSC three years ago and I'm grateful to say she's been dancing with NED since! She has rheumatoid arthritis and has lots of difficulty with her 6 month exams. They are very painful for her. Her doctor said that insurance companies don't like paying for CAT scans unless they think they are necessary. How often do you ladies get CAT scans? To me having a CAT scan would be the only other way to see if the cancer returned since she doesn't want to get anymore pap smears becausr of the pain. The CA125 was never a good marker for her because her numbers were so low prior to the hysterectomy/chemo. She was staged as 1A.

    CT Scans

you say she was stage 1A,  was she grade 1 without further treatment?  i was stage 1A, grade 3 (not USPC/or MMT)  and i am 2 years out of treatment and now get scans every 6 months.  i believe they might change to less frequently sometime in the furture.  I also believe that CT Scans have a lot of radiation so I moved to MRI's after the first scan and have been lucky that my ins is paying for it.

maybe insurance is an issue if you have 1A, the garden variety and it isn't recommended to have Scans

She was stage 1A grade 3 UPSC. Maybe she could MRI's instead of the physical exam. Thanks for your response!

    scans

sounds like we have the same diagnosis.  I did find that ins companies were more willing to approved CT Scans as they are much cheaper than MRI's.
