Chemo pills and side effects

My husband way diagnosed with stage 2 kidney cancer 18 months ago. He had surgery and 1 kidney removed immediately after being diagnosed. At that point the Dr was very confident, but my husband was very depressed.  The cancer methastized in his lung this past May and he is on daily chemo meds Votrient.  They have already cut the dose from the original 4 pills a day to 3 pills a day but he seems to be doing worse even though the Dr said the meds are working.  I'm frustrated because he's less willing to do anything but lay around the house.  I don't know if it is truly  side effects or just him giving up. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Have heard of someone on Votrient

My husband is on Torisel, IV once a week for stage 4 RCC.  We visited with a man on votrient who lost 40 pounds, retired as a truck driver and said he had a metallic taste in his mouth and foods tasted different to him.

No one knows what it is like to walk in someone else's shoes.  Having said that, I think I would suggest going for a walk together, which would be good for both of you and finding a hobby or movie to share.  He may resist, all we can do is try.

Keep me posted as my husband may go on votrient too. Radiation may be coming up or even more surgery.......Only God knows, I sure don't.

Now, I want to keep my husband home & he keeps going to the farm.  And I had to learn, let him do what he wants to do and you are trying to learn what your husband would like to do now that he is at home.

Reality check for me! Please keep me posted.

Best wishes & huggs for you both.

    Peace, Linda
