Has anyone had this happen after surgery

I had my open partial Monday, and i experienced a first last evening and twice since that has me baffled.  I passed gas finally, which apparently is a big deal after surgery, but then i was urinating and at the end passed gas out of my urethra.  It was the strangest thing.  I then read about something called a fitsura.  I guess somehow your bladder and bowel can become connected and this can happen.  Apparently it can develop into a serious condition.  I told my nurse in the hospital about it, she relayed the message to the urologist, but the doctor didn't seem overly concerned.  she just suggested to monitor and document if it happens again, and if it doesn't stop in a day or two to call.  Has this happened to anyone else?

    Fistula

Andy I was diagnosed with a fistula last September, it showed up on my scan. One of the signs is lot's of foamy bubbles in your urine. You will also have the feeling if inflamation around the site. I was scheduled for an operation to remove part of the bowel. I had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy but the were unable to find the cavity. It did show up in the bladder though, but it wasn't very large. The operation was cancelled because I had to go to England, I was taking lots of supplements at the time, and continued to do so. At that point I started having issues with the mets, when we eventually got around to looking into it again it had healed itself.

Penis Farts are common after a catheter

They are not a big deal.  The process of a catheter can result in air in the bladder, which goes out the uretha.  Nothing to do with the bowels.

    Cath issue

I'd have to agree with above comment, have a feeling it's more of a catheter issue... Obviously if it happens often you should tell the urologist, but air can get trapped in the bladder before they pull the catheter out.

    Andy, I wouldn't worry.  it

Andy, I wouldn't worry.  it is from the catetha. this happens quite frequently and it shouled go away within three days or so.  that is why the doctor isn't concerned.  hope you are feeling better.

Talking about penis farts? Proof that we really are family! LOL
Andy, I agree with the others.....probably something to do with the catheter.
    Happy healing!

So I was trying to avoid

So I was trying to avoid calling these penis farts because my brother, who is a respiratory therapist, called them this and I laughed so hard I almost ripped my staples out.  Then when you guys called them penis farts I once again laughed uncontrollably.  Even typing this response is making me laugh.  They say laughter is great medicine...I really hope so because it sure hurts rigit now.  As an update, the penis farts have been silenced for 24 hours now so I can assume you all were right about air from the catheter getting trapped in the bladder.  That was the first time I ever had a cath, and I wasn't sure what to expect.  Thanks for the advice a giggles all!

    nothing is sacred

in health care. Not even your gurgling hand puppet. If that is the worst issue you have, then enjoy the attention it can get you. A good laugh heals all.

    Caths

Yeah, caths are great fun for the whole family.  Especially when the nurse needs to try a few times when trying to deflate the balloon to take it out!

    Caths

And I was only worried that they may break something when they took the Cath out.

    2009 Harley

Streetglide.  This year was a bad year for riding. It was the first time I missed Laconia in probably 15 years... I like Vulcans.  I like them all. I used to have several yamaha xs 650's. I had given away 2-3 of them about 20 years ago. With a ton of parts. Wished I had some of that stuff now as they make awesome bobbers. I've been working on an old honda SL 350.  It should be fun. A few years ago custom choppers were in. Now guys that spent 50-60 thousand bucks on a new build can't get $10k for them. I think guys who like working on bikes are going for carburated non computer models. Bobbers are in. So are cafe racers. My SL 350 will be like a cross over street/enduro. Here's to summer riding!

well Fellas, it has been going on 2 weeks sense I got the catheter out. The first day after, I was in the bathroom and was trying to take a whiz. All the sudden, Mr squiggles let out a scream that my wife heard it in the next room. My wife said, “what” was that? I’m not kidding. It sounds like one of those frogs that screams when it thinks it’s threatened! It kinda scared me. All I could say was, mr squiggles has found it voice! I was just as shocked as she was! But really, I thought it was just air escaping from the bladder. After listening to you guys, I thank I’ll call the Doctor Monday morning since this has been going on for 2 weeks now!
