I am not asking for money - I am hoping to meet some of the great ladies from this board

I will be posting a name on one of the "Survivor/Memory" trees for all of you with special mention for our friend, Jazzy Jan. 

BTW, while I think all cancers are HORRIBLE, I was solicited by a women's organization to call/text to donate for breast cancer because it is October.  I HAD to fire back and wanted to share what I wrote with you all (I hope I do not offend you ladies, I know that some of you have also had a battle with breast cancer):

Good afternoon,

I wish an organization such as yours, would step up to help the other cancers specific to women to get the attention they deserve.  The “below the belt” cancers do not get the money and attention, and as an endometrial cancer survivor, would prefer to see women address these cancers as well.  

Fortunately, breast cancer is much easier to find, diagnose, and treat at earlier stages.  Unfortunately, the only test for cervical cancer is the PAP smear, there is no test for ovarian, uterine, endometrial, vulvar, or fallopian tube cancer and often found so late that these women are dying every day.

If you are looking for a GREAT organization that addresses these “other” cancers, please contact the National Race to End Women’s Cancer which benefits the Foundation for Women’s Cancer.  The race this November 2nd benefits this organization and helps to find tools to find and treat gynecological cancers.

I think it's great that you are going to be able to do that walk.  I would love to be a part of it.  Thank you for remembering our friend Jan.  Don't forget Connie (JS) that just recently passed away.  That would be wonderful if you could add her name to the wall.   I think your response was very good to help raise awareness for other kinds of women't cancers.

Absolutely I will add her!  There are so many we have lost, many who are still fighting, and others that have won.  BTW - I remeber ALL of you lovely ladies from Uterine, Ovarian, and other Gynecological Cancers. 

Last night a co-worker told me how her sister, at 31, is battling breast cancer I hugged her.  I told her what we tell everyone here:  you are a statistic of one.

I totally agree with you and will support us all in the below the belt cancer's...  Maybe we need to establish a colored ribbon for us lets all think about it and come up with a color to support it.  Let's make it happen ladies. Deb, I remember my best friend and I looking at the ribbon colors when I was diagnosed and when I saw Uterine I said, "Crap.  I have a yucky color".   

As you can see from the link below form the American Cancer Society, uterine is peach, ovarian is teal, and cervical is shown as teal/white.  Lavendar is to represent all cancers, and lots of people look good in that.

Ladies, while the weather for Washington is hinting at cool and rain for next weekend, I will be there for all of you. 

This week during a scheduled follow up visit with my gynecological oncologist I saw a woman, younger than me, and her husband sitting in the waiting room. I could tell she was in treatment as her knitted cap covered her bald head and the teal bracelet her husband wore told me she was a ovarian cancer warrior.

I walk for that young ovarian cancer patient, for Debbie (a co-worker) who lost her battle with cervical cancer just as I was diagnosed, Jan and Connie who lost thier battles with uterine cancer this year, and all of the beautiful women who fight the 'below the belt' cancers.

The Walk

Thank you so much for posting Connie's name in DC. I know it would make her proud to know her fight may have made a difference for someone else. I also would like to give you props for standing up for Below the Belt Cancers.

Today was a 2 week anniversary of Connie's spirit being released. It was kind of a bad day for me. My youngest daughter left for basic training this week and she is extremely home sick. I just told her to be strong and it'll be over soon. I truly wished I could say it and mean it for all you peach sisters.   Maybe one day when the funding is more evenly distributed it can be a reality. Until then please remember my words. You are not alone.

Virtual hugs all around. Have a terrific walk. 

By the way your new friend from the Doctors office, please pass the word of this blog. I was not aware of this till my sister introduced me to it.   She may not be knowledgeable of this board or other services available to her. We don't want anyone to feel alone while fighting this God awful Below the Belt Cancer. Also if you should see her again please let her know that she is not alone and prayers are being said for you all.

It is my honor to walk for all of our special women.  I was so uplifted after last year's walk - I really knew I was not alone when I saw all the purple shirts.  At the airport I saw a man wearing one of the white race shirts (purple was for the warriors!) and found out he was a gyn onc from Indianapolis and talked his ear off! 

JS Sister, my thoughts are to take it one step at a time.  Connie will always be with you and there is no expiration date on missing someone you love.
