who can recommend an experienced nasopharyngeal carcinoma doctor in MD Anderson Cancer Center

One month ago i found a swollen painless lymph nude on left neck while my left forehead was infected by Shingles virus. I took anti-virus medicine one week and then virus was gone. But the neck lymph nude is still there. In my family, my uncle was dead from nasopharyngeal carcinoma and his first symptom was swollen neck lymph nude. Now my left ear is blocked and has voice. Sometimes in the morning i noticed nasal blood. I have seen local ENT oncologist. There is no problem in my nose by microcamera. Tomorrow i will do CT scan. Since nasopharyngeal carcinoma is very rare, i want look for an experienced nasopharyngeal carcinoma doctor in MD Anderson Cancer Center. Who can help me and recommend doctor? thanks in advance.

    I had NPC (nasophrayngeal carcinoma)....

...and tho I stayed here for treatment, I did look into MD Anderson.  I think you just put yourself into the hands of the Drs. there if you should have NPC.....it won't just be one Dr., it will be a team of them.  It's the best cancer hospital in the country.

Let's see what the CT says, first, tho.....you might be running scared for no reason.  Swollen lymph nodes are common with any type of infection....and this may have come about due to you having shingles.

    Welcome to the H&N Group

Welcome to the group and sorry you might need to be here. MD Anderson is about the best for this and Stanford is up there as well. MD has done more, and they would know which doctor is the best for this type.

Remember lymph glands swell when you have a infection, that is there job. Sometimes it takes awhile for them to get back to normal and some times they just don't, and have to be removed but there is nothing wrong. I say that becase I had one removed when I was about 12, but it was nothing, it just had to come out.

You are smart to have it checked because of family history, but please remember. It's not cancer until a doctor says it is. So don't beat yourself up to much this early. The CT scan will give more info. Take care and be well. Will add you to my prayer list. There are others that have had this on here and they will have some information for you. Mine was Larynx cancer.

    who is your doctor, phrannie51

I have seen your profile. I am very happy the tumor cell has been gone from you. Your case give me more and great confidence to combat this disease. Though now i have no idea with my case, i want collect more information about experienced doctor in this disease in MD aderson cancer center so that i will not get stress for next step. It is very critical that your ENT doctor  required you do biopsy. Could you tell me your ENT doctor name? If you think it is not good to expose publicly your doctor's name, could you respond to me at my email: hudy1980@hotmail.com. thanks in advance.

My ENT is here in Montana.....

I looked into going to MDA, but found that my treatment here was exactly the same as what I'd get in Houston, so I decided to stay up here.  All the Dr's at MD Anderson are experienced to the n'th degree.....if it turns out that you have NPC, you can get in touch with MDA via their web-site.  They will call you, and email you with all the information they will need (records from the Dr. who diagnosed you, and a CD of your scan....you get those right fromt he Dr. and the radiology department where you are).

AFter they get your information, they will again either email or call you, and work to set up your appointments.....I think they will even pick you up at the airport.

    MD Anderson

I saw Dr. Eduardo Diaz for tonsil cancer nine years ago, I looked on line and he is still there. The entire head and neck department was fantastic.
