Insomnia

Has anyone had insomnia while in chemo treatment? Sometimes I only sleep 2-4 hours a night.  I'm trying melatonin. Statred with 5 mg which did nothing so I increased it to 10 mg.  Sometimes it helps; sometimes not. I don't want to take anything like Ambian.

    Know the Feeling

I was the same way.  It continued after chemo..  I took sleep aids like Bendryl, ZZZZZZ.  A friend suggested taking Chamiolle capsules.  Then I took melatonin and ZZZZZ.    After chemo. my friend told me to talk to my body and tell it how wonderful it did while in chemo. and that now it was healing time and that my body needed rest and to tell the brain to relax and rest.  I am now able to go to sleep (still takes me longer than it did before cancer) faster.  During the chemo. I did the ZZZZZ or Bendryl.  After chemo. I took melatonin and ZZZZZZ.  Had to take melatonin because as we age, our resivoir of melatonin gets low.  Then, I tried the chamiolle capsules but those really didn't work for me.  Then, I was introduced to tart cherry concentrate.  I am still trying that one.   Sometimes now, I don't take anything.   Take naps as often as you can while in chemo.    Bendryl type stuff is your best bet.    Rest when you need to.   Best wishes.

I had a lot of trouble

I had a lot of trouble sleeping right after surgery.  I tried melatonin and ended up with my worst nightmares ever.  I've actually had some trouble sleeping since menopause, which happened 10 years before my surgery.  I try not to take anything for it, but occasionally end up taking Benadryl, Aleve, or Tylenol.  I find once my aches and pains go away, I can sleep better (I have a bad back which bothers me at times).

I have had trouble sleeping also

I have trouble sleepng also (first chemo was 7/16/14).  I've been taking 2 Tylenol PM (which is essentially a pain killer with Benadrl) and its been working for me.  Once I fall asleep I get a good 7 hours of sleep.  I've thought about trying melatonin but this is working so far.
