blood streak phlegm after NPC treatment - common?

Options

I was diagnosed with NPC stage 3 cancer in Mar this year. Since then,  I completed 3 rds of chemo and 33 RT sessions.

I am 8 weeks out of my treatment and today, I woke up with the sickening blood streaked phlegm again. Is this recurrence?  Will be going to see my doctor first thing tomorrow but wanted to post here to ask for experience and opinion.

    most likely not recurrance

Bloody sputum is very common, and for quite awhile after rads.  I have just been through six courses of chemo, and every time I got the chemo I got significant mouth ulcers which bled quite a bit as well.    Yes, its always wise to see your doctor, but recurrance at eight weeks isn't the common cause of bleeding, the treatment itself is.

    I also had NPC treatment

I also had NPC treatment (rads and chemo); finished 1y and 7 m ago. I experienced that blood streaked phlegm, even months after treatment, but mostly during common cold. 2 months after treatment doesn’t seem like a reoccurrence, to me.

    Hi Skaa

I too am NPC I am about 10 years out from my 3rd recurrence so don’t jump because you see a little blood. Everything in your nasal right now is still burring from the radiation, you have small vain’s that run all over in the nasal area that were affected by the treatment. If you need take Ice and hold it on your noise until the bleeding stops, if you want you can call your doctor but he will most likely tell you it is normal.

If you need call or e-mail me any time as I am on call for 24/7 for all NPC survivors.

Just click on my name Hondo and it will take you to my page.
