Hospitalized for cellulitus in cheek

Went in Sunday and got home at 9pm last night. I got so anxious waiting for release but he had two emergency trachs so they needed him more than I did.  Hoping under control now. Lots going on. Good news is that bone scan a week ago indicates fibula used to reconstruct jaw in 2012 is still viable. There is an exposed spot inside they think can snip a piece of bone and bring tissue togehter. Waiting to see if recent issues due to rads or cellulitus. A month ago I was eating and now it's soft foods, coughing and the last few days, a couple of incidents were I could not draw water from a straw. Speech rough at times. Vocal cord issue or left side of tongue fried from rads. Not sue of anything. Was making progress two months ago then all went to heck in a handbasket. Lots of anxiety isn't helping. New ENT told me he needs to figure me out.  Glad to be home. Hating a month of heavy duty anti-biotics and diflucan side effects.

Hoping you are all plugging along and makig progress.

    So sorry to hear

So sorry to hear this news.  I hear you about the antibiotics, glad they can kill the bacteria but they also wreck our guts.  I have been on meds for the last month, staph and strep in sinus and ear, not fun but necessary.  Hopefully they got on top of infection.  I have also found using the straw getting more difficult and changes in speech recently.  I have scan at the end of the month so anxiety is beginning to rise.

    darn, Candi, i'm sorry to

darn, Candi, i'm sorry to hear you are having more problems.  it just breaks my heart seeing what you have to go thru.  i get down sometimes b/c of side effects i have but then i read something from you or another member and it wakes me up and makes me see how blessed i am.  i truly feel for each of you who are having trouble with additional problems that shouldn't be happening.  if i could wish them away I would!  i'm glad you are home and i pray you continue to heal until you are back to 100%.  keeping you in my prayers.

    God bless you,

    dj

    I can relate

I've had Celulitis 7 times. Thank god I had it the 7th te as mine developed on the right side of my chest and spread to my neck and face. They did a CT Scan to determine the depth of the infection, and that's when they discovered the METS to my lung. I have to take the old hardcore Vancomiacin, like getting battery acid through your veins, but it takes care of business.

Hopefully you never have to go through that again.

    Best

    better luck

    Candi,

Let’s hope along with the Doc “figuring you out” is some good results and a reduction of anxiety.

    Back to making progress!

    The Story never ends

I am glad to hear that the reconstruction you had in 2012 is still doing OK, and hope you get your suction back again. Most of the time it is because of the upper palate letting air go by, my last visit to see my ENT she found a hole in my palate the size of a pencil. Boy that will leave a lot of air bypass. I am just glad to see you don’t let anything keep you down and like you said we just keep plugging away going going going.

I keep going back to no

cancer....but the anxiety of wondering "now what" has to be great....and I can sure relate to that.  Hope this new ENT can figure you out quickly, and get you fixed up ASAP.  Keeping you tucked in my pocket, Candi....Since you're on the heavy duty antibiotics, might as well send someone out for Primadopholis Bifidus (in the refrigerated part of the health food store)....that will help keep your guts and other parts of your body from taking a hit from them....keeps the good bugs working, while the antibiotics kill off the bad.

Lots of hugs going your way, honey.....
