Hello, my friends.

Just wanted to let you know that I have been in Kentucky with my daughter since June 14. Can't remember when I last posted, but am reading posts & following everyone's journey, old friends & new.

I was stunned to see the change in my daughter from a year ago. As I watched Ron slip away, I now watch this evil cancer take my child's life. There are no words to describe the sadness & feeling of helplessness. She is still a bit mobile with a cane, but can barely put weight on the right leg. In this tiny rural community, hospice leaves a lot to be desired. The people are caring, but very disorganized, not showing up, delivering wrong supplies or nothing at all, etc. She is in constant pain despite the multiple morphine based meds, nerve meds, anxiety meds, etc., but sleeps a lot of the time, if only fitfully. She wants so badly to remain cognizant, but after so many months of this pain, she is slowly relenting to added pain meds.

I was to return home mid July, but have decided to remain here for as long as necessary.

I hope each of you are feeling better with each passing day & that all scans come back NED.

Please keep my Debbie in your prayers.

    karen, this breaks my heart. 

    karen, this breaks my heart.  Debbie has suffered so much for so long, she truly deserves a break.  i'm so very sorry your family is going thru this again.  you are a very strong woman.  Debbie is always in my prayers as is her family and yours.  i wish i were close so i could help you take care of her.  i know that's hard on you also.  remember to take care of you so you can continue to take care of Deb.  you can call me if you ever want to talk or cry or vent, or anything.  praying for clean scans, pain control and a healthy Debbie.  God bless you all.

    So sorry for what you and your family are going through.  I am glad that you are able to be with Debbie (JBG).  Hopefully Hospice will come through for you to help with pain.  Prayers abound.

    I was there for my mom, and I know it made a big difference to her. Being there for your daughter is certainly making a difference to her too. I wish I could hug you in person but I can't, so please consider this the best virtual online hug I could possibly give.

    I'm so glad you're going to stay

    there, instead of coming back in July.  Having "mom" there does so much for the spirit (think all of us can attest to that!). 

    Keeping you and JBG in my heart and sending prayers......like Laralyn, if I could hug you in real life, I would.

    We don’t know why bad things happen to good people other than living in a world of sin. But the hope we do have is that we will someday understand and someday live again by faith in the one who died to give us life again in a place with no sickness or death.

    So sorry your daughter is suffering. Seeing your child suffer and not being able to stop it is the worst possible trial we as mothers go through. Know I am praying for your daughter and your family. My heart is aching for you.
