A little while back I posted and asked a lot of questions.  Here is a quick update. The hospital faxed all the paperwork, contrast ct scan results and my ultrasound results to my doctor.  My doctor had me sign the release forms at my appointment and that's all we did. She called me the next day (weds) to inform me that has had referred me to a gyn and gave me a number to call to make an appointment. So I called and their first available appointment is June 9th at 9:45. I hate that I have to wait so long. I am still in pain. The pain never goes away. I have also started feeling sick most of the time and the past 2 days have had a major lack of appetite.  When I do eat it makes me feel worse and I get full quickly. It's horrible.  I have also lost 5 pounds in about a week. I needed to lose weight but not from being sick!

Any way, I just wanted to let everyone know how things were going. Can't wait for the 9th to come so I can see what to do next. I have managed to calm myself down by telling myself the ER doctor could be wrong and so couldn't my regular health doctor.  But my husband gets more nervous every day. I think it's because the pain is always there. Sometimes so bad I can barely get out of bed.

I will do my best to keep everyone in the loop.

P.S .... I also very sleepy and no energy 90% of the day.

I have no idea what she reffered me to. I don't know why I didn't ask. I need to be focused when talking to these doctors. I know it's at the women's center here on post. I had asked to be seen off post but she didn't respect my request for some reason. But I will give this place a chance.

    Ok.Just don't be intimidated

    Ok.

Just don't be intimidated by the doctors.   You don't want to get pushed around.   Go in being firm and confident and ask any type of question that you like.  If you get the feeling they don't want to answer your questions, then they do not need you as a patient.   Believe me, I have been through it.

This is about you and your care and treatment if needed.   If you don't get that, seek out another if you are able.  I'll be thinking of you.

    Hi April

June 9th does seem like a long time to wait.  If the pain becomes excruciating for you, don't wait for your appointment on the 9th; go to the hospital emergency room.  When you do go to your appointment, please make sure you take your husband or trusted relative or friend with you to take notes.  Also, write down your questions ahead of time.  It helps a lot to have a second set of ears.

I too will be thinking of you.

    As you have alreadynseen ,

As you have alreadynseen , the ladies on this board are great and can help you with not only valuable information, but also awesome support.

I agree with writing down your questions. Thisnway youncan write down your doctor's response that day. It is hard to keep a good memorynwhen so many things are are over whelming.

Hoping for the best for you. Kim

    My diagnostic experience

Sorry that I don't recall the details of your earlier post. And it sounds like you are on a military base & perhaps receiving care from base doctors, & I don't know how those procedures work. But: 2 yrs ago when a CT scan showed potential cancer in my abdomen it was very soon confirmed via paracentesis. Within another day or so, I was next in the care of an oncologist & in chemo a day after that. All of which I relate to illustrate that doctors can move very fast when needed--as they should. Keep after them! Good luck.

    update

April -- my diagnostic timeline was much like seatown"s - my GP sent me to a gyne with scan results - she told us I had OV cancer - my belly was huge with ascites fluid.  she did my first

CA 125 it was 4,000 -- this was a Mon - she said whe would get me in for a paracenthesis fluid drain that week& that she'd have meto a gyne/onc at the cancer center in a week -- both of which she did -- the fluid from the drain was se nt to pathology to identify what kind of cancer cells-- after seeing rthe gyne/onc I hhad my first chemo within a qweek.  like Carole once it was finally really diagnosed all my docs moved at high speed. I have been blessed with eexcellent care from all involved in  oncoogy - docs & nurses both.

tomorrow - just over a yr from dx I see the oncologists for PETcan results to verify I have nio active cxancer at present - which is what they think.

Hoping things go wwell for you with your docs

I agree ask quesations &learn what you need to face it head on -- let us know w2hat happens on the 9th

    Susan P - from AB Canada & TX& WY

PS - pain - let alone severe - was not one of my symptons

    Hey April

Sorry that diagnosis is taking so long and that you're in pain. Don't be a hero and ask for painkillers. Try not to panic, there could be many benign reasons for your symptoms; it's not cancer till it's been diagnosed. The only thing I could suggest is to get the CD with your CT scan and ultrasound and copy of the transcripts from the hospital  (they usually charge nominal fee) and carry them with you to the doctor's appointment on June 9th. Hold on to them in case you decide to get second opinion. Insist on the CA125 blood test and hormone tests if you have not yet had them done. Often hypothyroidism causes low energy. If you wish, post yout CT transcript here and we will collectively try to interpret.

Good luck to you and hugs,

    Alexandra
