Double hit lymphoma remission but fluid in lungs????

Ex husband has been in remission for a little over 6 months. Several weeks ago he had a cough.  Dr gave prescription  and inhaler.  No improvement. Today cat scan was done and fluid was discovered on his lungs!!!  He left dr with oxygen!!!  Flying back to Houston Sunday to see cancer dr.   Could this be secondary cancer???  Please say no!

    Mary,

What drugs did your ex-husband receive ?  What is his age ?  A few chemo drugs can cause lung issues (it is rare, but well-documented ) -- I have a CT to investigate lung problems myself next week (4.5 years after treatment).

    Good luck in Houston,

    R-Eproch....if I put that

R-Eproch....if I put that correctly. He also had a stem cell transplant. He is 55. I was just shocked because he has been back to normal for the most part.  He just told me yesterday that they sent him home with oxygen.  He is very active so it was extremely shocking to me. He said, "I can't breath, I don't know what's wrong?"   he has been going to his 3 month visits and just went in February so it is time to go again....but it's just that anxiety......

    Mary,

I thought that perhaps he had received Bleomycin, but EPOCH-R does not contain that drug, which can cause lung toxicity.

I would be asking some tough questions and demanding answers of the doctors. I can't suggest anything beyond that.

Again, good luck with resolving his lung issue .... Max

    Hi Mary

    Hi Mary,

Does your husband have any heart conditions? Hypertension? Cardiomyopathy? Congestive heart failure? Or maybe any deficits within his kidneys?
