A long time without a scan

in Ovarian Cancer #1

Hello!  I will be seeing my doctor this week after 15 months without a visit.  I am a 6 year survivor of stage 3C.  I am feeling alittle nervous now about having to have a cat scan soon.  It has been over 2 1/2 years since my last one.  My question.... do you think that is a very long time between cat scans?

    are you having the scan now?  I went about 18 months without a scan until the CA 125 began rising.  Is it just routine for you?

    I have not had a scan since

    I have not had a scan since the end of my chemo 22 months ago.  My doc does not scan unless there is reason too.

    This will just be routine.  The last time i saw my doctor it had already been over a year since my scan.  She said next time you come we will set you up for one.  I am seeing her this friday and always get apprehensive about going.  But now that i see "glad to be done"'s doctor only gives one if there is a reason - i will not push for one.  I really was thinking that i should have had one at least every year.  I feel better now knowing that is standard procedure.  Thank you both for writing :)

    Its not a long time but can be nerve wracking to say the least.   I went that long when the insurance companies decided that patients were being scanned too much so it wasn't approved as easily and since I wasn't having symptoms my doctor didnt worry about it.   I sure did though!    It was only when I got a new doctor that a scan was ordered.   Whether it is years or months, it is always nerve wracking getting scans!

    My doc doesn't do them routinely either and I'm 90% ok with it.  There's always an element of doubt
