Some test results back

After kidney cancer in 2012, colon cancer 2013, both primary tumor sites, no spread from either and I am so thankful.  All this pain I have in my R hip area  the PET scan lit up in iliac crest and my onc thought it could be bone cancer.  She sent to me to another onc who does bone cancer only and he done MRI of hip and pelvic and bone scan and all was negative for cancer YAY!!!!!!   Now the task at hand is what is causing all the pain?  This onc suggest a pain clinic and maybe they could find a diagnosis but I  have been there 7 months ago and did not like the needle being put in my spine , so I declined to go back there.  So we are back to square one now.  Got the results from Genetic Testing and of 14 strands of dna 13 was negative one showed mutations in 2 different areas.  THe cancers that come from the CHEK2 are colon, kidney, prostate, breast, and gastric system.  The other APC contains the same plus pancreatic, and brain and bone.  So this all means that my chance of getting cancer in these areas are significantly increased.  This genetic testing is clearly way over my head LOL.  I told onc  i knew one cancer i wouldnt get and that was Prostate!!!!  Now my sons have to have colonoscopies and renal scans done for a base line.  THey said GEE thanks mom lol.  My kidney scans are coming up in April and colonoscopy in June.  Always just a little anxious especially since I dont feel real well.  Just wanted to let you all know my results.  THanks

    Hi Brea,

That is quite a list you've got there. I am glad your pain wasn't caused from cancer...makes the pain more bearable, doesn't it. You have a great attitude and i think it is safe to say, you are a pretty tough chick. Hang in there! We are here for you!

    Big Hugs,

    Jojo

    Good News!

    Hi Brea,

I wondered how you were getting on, I am so glad to hear that hip pain was not cancer related. I hope they manage to track down the root of it. I assume they have checked for a sciatic nerve issue?

Anyway good to know you are doing well:)

    Brea,

I had ilium pain a couple years ago. "cept mine was from a tumor. Good news is it isn't there anymore. So maybe, what has caused your pain is resolving also. Keep smiling!
