UP DATE AFTER CHEMO RAD

Hello Friends,

I am logging in to the forum after some time. Rad sessions in the morning, back in office in the afternoon, working late to catch up the time loss & I was missing the forum. I finished with 28 Fractions of Rad with Xeloda on 4th of November. What relief it was Smile I experienced a few side effects like Proctitis, Tenesmus, peeling off the skin in my butt etc. But overall it was not as bad as I expected & I am happy with the proceedings. Rob, thanks for the encouragement you gave me. I was eagerly waiting to see the light end of the tunnel. My Rad Onc was happy that I tolerated the treatment well. Thanks to friends in this wonderful forum who shared their experiences during Rad, I knew what precisely to expect. I did drink lot of Lemon Juice from the day 1 and still continuing & never had the burning when passing urine. May be the lime juice tip was working well. I managed to drive the 1.5 hours drive from home to Centre & back home all 28 days & glad that I didn't have to trouble my people who volunteered to drive me to the centre & back if a need arises. My lovely wife accompanied me to the centre right throughout & I never felt the distance.

My Med Onc told me that he will give me a rest of around 3 weeks & only will start my Chemo Therapy (8 cycles of CAPOX) So days are getting closer for the big do Cry But from last evening I am down with a bad viral flue & wonder whether my Onc will now delay the start of Chemo Therapy. Any friends in the forum who did the Chemo after Rad who can shed some light as to when they started the Chemo after Rad ? I don’t want to delay my treatment process. But I am afraid of getting late to start the treatment due to the flue. Would love to hear from you folks on this.

    Hey Gavin,

    As you know most people get their radiation before surgery so I can't advise you on when to start chemo. But there is a fundamental rule not to start the chemo while having any kind of infection should it be viral, bacterial etc. I'm going through the same thing. A small part of my 12" incision wasn't healing well so I had to postpone the chemo by 3 weeks. It's a fine line: you don't want to start the chemo early but do it as soon as possible.

    Its good to hear from you again and even better to know that your radiation sessions are over and with few side effects. 

    I hope your infection clears up soon and that your chemo doesn't get postponed. 

    The only time my chemo was postponed was for bad bloods so I can't help with any answers. 

    Keep us updated and good luck with the rest of your treatment.

    You have posted virtually the same thing on a number of threads today.  Are you sure you are not an agent for this product?

    Usually when folks have a treatment or supplement they feel might help others, they give their own experience with it...not testimonials from others.

    To all who read the suggested web site...buyer be ware...if it sounds too good to be true...it just might be.

    I'm glad to hear you finished radiation, and I could help. I think the only thing that gives you comfort during that time is to know that it is temporary. I hope you feel better, the flu is no fun, especially after chemorad, I couldn't imagine it. Get well soon.

    Good to hear that the Rad went  well and that you are healing.

    My Oncologist was careful about giving chemo when I was ill or feeling poorly...other then normal side effects.

    Hello Friends,

    Thank you so much for your replies & very much appreciated.  Sorry for late response. I didn’t get much time to go through the posts. My whole family was down with that bad flue. Sadly I am the culprit to have distributed it generously to everyone.  I am feeling better now. My Fever had settled & still has a mild cough.

    Getting ready for the Chemo tomorrow.
