Back from Hershey

in Head and Neck Cancer #1
Hi all, back from my appointment today with the thoracic surgeon (a professor no less) really nice man. He put on the video of the needle biopsy procedure to show me the nodule, the needle missed it on the first try, got it on the next. He said the biopsy was inconclusive as to what it was, said it still could be benign or even some inflammation but he thinks cancer. I am having the vats procedure and will be having surgery this coming Tuesday and will spend 3 to 5 days in the hospital. He mentioned Bronchioalveola carcinoma real early stage. They will be having a tumor board meeting tonight and will call me again tomorrow. This is elective surgery and he feels I will cope well with it. Now gotta find a way to cut expenses, the cost is killing me, the past 4years have been a physical and financial nightmare. Thanks for all of your wonderful support, he was really interested in my music and googled my old bands in his own office. Have to e-mail him a couple of my music videos. Denis

    that a 10-4 on the cost
    crap, I am on Medicare via SSD. was not able to get gap coverage. The gap is pretty huge. OTOH, go get em Dennis. Just like Soccerfreaks before you, you can survive this.

    Denis,
    I am so in awe of your spirit and kick as.. attitude. Tell ya in my case it's very contagious in a very wonderful way ! I would love to listen to some of your music, how do I access it ? It sounds like you have a wonderful group of people working to get you better ! I will be thinking of you and praying all goes perfect ! Katie

    Glad you have a plan
    to move on to a resolve of this latest issue. Im praying all will be well. Concentrate on the procedure and then the healing, because your right sometimes the financial part can be overwhelming but that will take care of its self, my thinking is pay them 10 bucks a month and plan on being around 10 years from now when you finally pay them off LOL.

    Was at the hospital today for for pre-op physical. EKG was good, kidneys still stable, everything is a go. Have to be at the hospital admissions at 5:15 am tomorrow, so will be in op pretty early. Private room which is good, get some rest. No food or water after midnight, pills in morning with a sip of water. Will have a laptop, hope I am not too drugged up to use it. Nurse said again, "don't be a hero, there's a lot of pain with this" so bring on the morphine. Will post as soon as able. Denis

    they will probably give you an intercostal block
    before finishing your proceedure. Good pain relief. Go get em.....

    thanks pat, I am so ready to get this done, the last two weeks have been long, my poor wife, she needs a trip home to Germany to relax. Denis
