This is our last long weekend for Summer and wondered what everyone was doing over the Labor Day Holiday. Boating, going to a party, having a bbq, just laying around home and relaxing..what are your plans?

Happy Labor Day Weekend

    Off to a barbecue!
We are going to some friends home on Sunday for a barbeque. It is suppose to be a beautiful day, so, we are really looking forward to just sitting back, drinking a few beers or having some wine, eating good food and enjoying the time with good friends!

Hoping everyone has a great Labor Day!

Happy birthday to your hubby Susan a little early! Goin' Fishing sounds fun! What kind of fish do you have there? Trout? Walleye? Bass? I love fish and we also go fishing!

    Have fun!

A bbq with friends! That is
A bbq with friends! That is always fun! Glad you're going to have some nice weather for it! When we have friends out for a bbq, we try and have a big bonfire at night and we even tell ghost stories. And, they still scare me!

    Party here!
The party is here! We've asked a few friends over for a cookout Sunday. Needless to say, I've been working so hard to get everything just perfect, and, I think I am just about there. I don't want to be too exhausted so I can't enjoy it, right? LOL

    Enjoy the long weekend sisters!

    Camping in Cooper Landing,
Camping in Cooper Landing, Alaska ........ they just informed us that tent camping was banned because of all the bear activity in the area, but we have an old motorhome and take a gun if we hike on the trails ..... It is on the Russian River. a popular salmon fishing place in July very pretty area and hoping for no bears!

A Wake, A Wacky Party, and a Walk
(note: I'm too tired to do any of these things, but dangit, I've got a 4 day weekend, and I'm gonna make it count!)

Wake is for old family friend of hubby's. She was his mom's best friend. I am SO over funerals, but I will go to be there for him.

Wacky party is one we've been invited to for at least 10 years, never gone before. Hubby finally feels like coming out of his shell, so I have to go along. It may be fun, but I won't be staying long, cos the next morning....

Hubby and I are gonna walk across the Mackinac Bridge!!! It's not that far from home, it's 5 miles, and it's gonna be awesome. It started as an idea from my boss, the friend one, but due to circumstance beyond her control (ie her husband has control issues) she can't go. So I asked hubby if he didn't mind being sloppy seconds. Happily, he said yes. I'm so tired of just *existing*, going to work every day and then coming home to collapse, I want to get outside myself. So, even tho it's against the rules to play tag (seriously????) we're gonna play tag on the Mackinac Bridge! Oh, yeah, and it's also against the rules to run, so we'll run. Probably can't skip, gonna do that too! We'll be home by noon, I know I'll sleep all the way home, but it will be worth it. I'm gonna have a day or so of "pre-new normal". Can't wait, gotta take lots of naps before monday.

(Oh, yeah, and have to sneak a doc apt in to see if my broken rib resulted in pneunomia (sorry, I just can't spell that right). If I do have it, I'll "get it" on Tuesday!!!

Hope you all have a great weekend...even if that just means reading a book (got Kindle, got Hunger Games 2, gonna read in the car) or spending some time in your garden. LIVE!

    Off to the lake
We're off to the lake for some boating, fishing and sun! We've got a cabin on the lake and try to get there as often as we can. It is suppose to be hot, just the way we want it. Our best friends are coming Sunday to stay with us and to enjoy the rest of the weekend. A nice little getaway with good friends.

It looks like we are going
It looks like we are going to have some rain here over the holiday, so, our plans for cooking out are probably going to be moved to the garage and the house. LOL It will still be fun as long as we don't get any storms. Yikes!

    Be safe this weekend!

    Walleye popular here.
Walleye is what most fish for around here (well BIG cats too but I like 'plate size' cats). Mostly we fish for bass or panfish but mostly do C&R. We're both transplanted Floridians so mostly go with what we grew up with. (Well fresh water only here. - no salt water around here on the northern prairie LOL.)

I recently started learning flyfishing and a couple of weeks ago caught my first fish on a dry fly and it was a small smallmouth bass. I'm taking my flyrod but also my spinning rod as I'm not sure how casting will go in a 14' alluminum boat with the fly rod but spinning is fine.

We will probably take a 'detour' on the way home to Deadwood for Prime Rib and a little time for me with the 'penny slots' and him sitting "watchin' people".

    Thought?
We all, at least here in the US seem to recognize that Labor Day brings an end to summer.

We don't seem to have a weekend that says "this is the last weekend of winter". I do wish we did have to marked the end of cold, snow, ice and in general miserable weather. I live in the northeast. Yet, I can't think of one weekend that states this. I wonder why? I really would like to have one.

Fall doesn't seem to have a weekend that marks it's end, unless it's Thanksgiving. What about spring? Perhaps Memorial Weekend heralds the end of spring and the beginning of summer. Just musing on a rainy Sunday,
