Made it through the pet scan barely.....

Today I went for my pet scan. The last week I have been a hot mess. I am pretty much straight on, but for about 2 weeks I have had trouble sleeping. I weaned off the methadone and Ativan.

Could fall asleep, but it lasted less than an hour. Couldn't shut my mind down, with all the good news I have received not to surprising, trying to wrap my brain around it, even harder without sleep. Too tearful. Said the hell with it and am taking Ativan, today got it approved. Moving on...

Today was the pet scan. Went to get the port accessed and it was blocked. This nurse who was good, decided to push the saline fast and have me bear down at the same time. Did it and blacked out. Came too with all the nurses, and a couple of doctors working on me. My whole body was frozen like tree limbs and I couldn't move them. Then my whole body started spasms and I was seeing multiples of everything. My blood pressure went sky high as did my heart rate. It took over a half hour to come out, even with oxygen. I immediately had a horrendous headache, and still do.

They said something about being in afib, and something else. What I think is they blew out the clot and it hit something in either my heart or brain. Because I felt it when it moved, and that was the last I remember for a good 10 minutes. One said something about glad it didn't go into heart failure.

If this has happened to someone else, let me know what it was!

Funny part was when I went back to the infusion room to get de-accessed, the nurse was talking to me and I asked her if any bad words slipped out, they all laughed, I guess I asked WTF was happening, and when I started coming to asked WTF they did to me along with a couple of other well put together phrases!

Imagine if I wouldn't have made it someone asked my last words........lol

Now the torture is waiting a week to see if there is any hope, I may go to Sacramento to wait it out.

Carol

    WOW
Not much else to say but "WOW' what a day. I've had my port for 1.5yrs now and only once had a hard time accessing it, but nothing like that. Love your humor on last words. I think the Ativan is a wise choice. You will be in my prayers for peace and strength on this journey.

WOW is right!!! What a day,
WOW is right!!! What a day, I'm so glad you're here telling us about it, and not in the hospital telling them off, lol. That's not funny, but we have to find some humor somewhere. Just happens, I've done that, not too long ago actually. As my port was being accessed, I jumped up out of the chair and said wtf, because it hurt really bad when she tried to inject the first syringe. Low and behold, my port blew and the fluids were going into wherever, they rushed me to the hospital (right next door) to image and a week later I had a new port installed. My surgeon (he and his wife are friends of mine) let me have my old port, it's pretty cool looking, but the bottom line was broke in half. Now I have a "smart port", wonder if it makes me smarter:)
Thanks for sharing this Carol, made me smile, I hope you're doing ok and that your scan brings you some good news!

I love your sense of humor...and thanks for sharing your story. I knew ports could get blocked, but had no idea what it might be like if they did, lesson learned for me.

If you do come to Sacramento to wait out the results you have to let me know. That's where I live, and there are others close too...I think lunch or dinner together would be required!!!

    Hugs,

    Oh my Lord, Carol ...
My eyes filled with tears, and my heart dropped while reading about your latest

along those same words, no question about it!!!!

Sacramento sounds like a lovely idea. Hope you can swing go there.

How scary for you. I'm so sorry you had to endure this terrible experience. But, like the others have said here--and I've said before--you are one amazing woman.

Hope you get to Sacramento and meet the ladies up there. Also, you're on my nightly prayer list and my prayer tonight with be for a good PET scan result.

    Hugs, Renee

shut the front door!!! Did you get an answer to your "WTF?" I can't believe this. I am just so happy you got to tell this story.

How are you feeling now? My heart pounded wildly reading this.

You truly are amazing. I love that about you. Somehow you manage to put some humor in most of your stories.

    God Bless You, Carol.

    Sacramento is on hold
for at least a few weeks, but I am planning on making it. It was 600. because it was last minute. One sister was flying in from WA state for a job interview and they wanted me to meet them (another one lives there). Mary who lives there said when I come to make plans and she will make sure I can get to where ever to meet. I love going up there, I use to drive. It takes about 11 hours, unless it is snowing through Donner, it took me 22 hours to get home one April. Now I have to go non-stop, an hour and 15 minutes is so nice.... I will let you know Linda when the plans are set.

One of my brothers, is here now, staying about a half hour away. I am going to at least spend Friday with him and his wife and am looking forward to that! We are all going fishing up in the Unita Mountains, and it is so beautiful up there, about 10,500 ft.

Look forward to meeting all the NoCal gals!

    Hugs,
    Carol

    hmm when things are blocked
hmm when things are blocked we are not in the habit of blowing clots out. For the reason you stated, it could go to the wrong place. Wow that is scary, and I am glad you came out of it. ishing you a good result!

    Being selfish
I hope you come to Sacramento! I want to meet you, too. Is your sister in Fair Oaks? We absolutely will arrange a get together, so let Linda, Re and/or me know.
