Here we go again!

Well, here I sit in the emergency room.... Rick had severe stomach pain last night, but it had subsided by the time he woke up this morning. So, I left him dosing in his chair at 10:30 while I left to take care of my mom. When I got home at 1:00 I heard him groaning loudly. I rushed upstairs only to find him doubled over in pain and throwing up bile. We were at the hospital in 10 minutes and he was in a bed 5 minutes later. (I'm no longer timid about demanding care like I used to be.). He has another partial bowel obstruction, so he'll be admitted soon, and will probably stay for three days on fluids like last time. Any prayers would be appreciated....

Thank you all for your warm
Thank you all for your warm thoughts and prayers. Rick is feeling better today, so the surgeon stopped by to only say hello (he was Rick's initial surgeon) and to tell us that it appears that his services won't be required today. :-) So, I'm hoping that they'll release him tomorrow. All good.
    Hugs,
    Cynthia

Hey, glad to see he's feeling better....so do they do scans when you go in hospital for obstructins??? Can they tell where the pain is coming from, or the cause of these??

Hi, yes, he was given a CT
Hi, yes, he was given a CT scan shortly after we arrived at the emergency room. It showed a lot of backup in the colon, so they figured that he'd need surgery. As of an hour ago, he was upgraded to soft food - applesauce, jello and tea. They plan to give him an X-ray in the morning to make sure things are moving again. The doctor believes that chemo is making him dehydrated, so it's back to drinking more coconut water. He also needs to stay on a very low fiber diet since fiber actually plugs him up! We had believed that being on a high fiber diet was actually good for him. Wrong.... So, if he stays on the current course, he should be back home and in his comfy chair by tomorrow afternoon. :-)

    All my best,
    Cynthia
