The hospital charged my insurance company $14,000 for the one shot!!!! I need 8 altogether. I am covered fortunately, but wow, can that shot really cost that much?

Sounds about what I was told
Sounds about what I was told they charge. While VA covered my care at the CCI, they made me go the the VA faclity for my Neulasta ($8) and my pre- chemo pills were sent to me from VA. I forget what the CCI would have charged for Emend - but it was 'up there'. While I was actively on TX, VA covered my blood work done at the Center but now any blood work Dr wants before my 6 mth checks VA does it. He doesn't order any anymore but my PA always sends him copies of what she orders.

    Amazing...
Amazing at the difference....3 years ago my Neulasta was $6,000.00 now it's $9,000.00 ...thankfully our insuance covers it, too...they can bill the insurance company what ever they want, but the insurance at times will only pay what is "average" ...inflated costs...

    Does make one wonder...

    Mine were $7000 a piece.
Mine were $7000 a piece. People say that the pharmaceutical companies are making big money on cancer related drugs however I read in an article that the hospitals and cancer centers mark up the drugs often by 200 - 300%. From the article if I remember correctly that the Neulasta was sold by the pharmaceutical companies for somewhere around $1500 - $3000 a shot.

    Thank goodness for
Thank goodness for insurance! The costs of everything inre to our treatment is so high. I still get shocked that a MRI is almost $10,000! And, very happy that we have good insurance!

yes i remember that and I
yes i remember that and I had to drive an hour to get it as my co pay would have been to high. i could have given it to myself. I also had a rectal fissure (tmi) and the Botox shots were 650 a piece and I had to pay it, then petition the insurance to reimburse me . They would pay outright if I had it in the OR which I eventually did. No jokes about making my butt look good because it didnt (sadly) I had 3 in total outpatient and one in the OR

    WOW!
Seriously? Mine cost less than 4K. Are there different dosages? I go to Sloan in NYC and they still charged a lot less. How come it varies per state? Weird. Shouldn't it be the same cost everywhere? So glad you have health insurance!!!! AMEN to that.

The pharmaceutical companies abuse insurance companies and humans. Talk about Jesus' message to the world...when will be the day the world will unify as one to help each other. I have a feeling that if all the scientists worked together as one team (from India, the middle East, Europe, USA...), we might have found WAY BETTER treatments, or better yet...we would have found the cure. But in the meantime, each nation is worrying about getting credit for coming up with a treatment that still causes fatal side effects. Who can understand this world? I miss the time when there were revolutionary men....UGH.

.... I think it may contain .. some
    KRYPTONITE ???

I hope that a few of those Pharmaceutical Companies donate drugs, and money
to assist women/men without insurance in their fight against breast cancer.
    Playing it forward .....

I am grateful that I had insurance, otherwise I don't know what would of
    happened.

I believe that all of the
I believe that all of the drugs are so marked up that it really is ridiculous. Unfortunately, everyone needs something and we have no choice. We are lucky as our insurance also has a prescription discount, so, we only pay a small portion for any drugs that we need.
