First rad affecting taste???

Could my first rad already be affecting my taste or could it be my allergy attack that's going on? I just peeled and ate an apple and it has no flavor. There's nobody else home to taste it to tell me if it's just the apple. Weird.

    Agree with Pat...
You might had a tasteless apple at this time of year, and with no one to experiment on, it's hard to say. You might begin to notice tho, by then end of the week...that's when I started noticing a less than normal taste experience.

Then it will be time to start experimenting on different foods. I bought an Odwalla high protein smoothie the other day....I tasted acidic candlewax....so I gave it to my sister...she tasted almost the same thing...LOL. Somethings just taste nasty to everybody...LOL. My latest experiments were...refried beans (of couse I'd try something Mexican :)) mixed with a little milk for consistancy....I can taste the beans, but the texture is still too thick (tasted good tho). Then shrimp dunked in a light (very light) tarter sauce...ate five of those....could taste the shrimp, the tarter got a little stingy...

    Chemo...
Didn't you also just have chemo....

If so, more than likely that's where your lack of taste is coming from at the moment.

Before rads, when I had the three week cycles of chemo. I would lose my taste for a week or so. Then the week before doing it again, I would have my taste back.

    I'll have mine plain
    Hi tuffenuf,

So you failed the apple test, seems too early for the rads, it could be from the chemo.

It wasn’t until the middle of week 3 that my taste buds turned south. I thought my hamburger tasted stale, but my wife assured me it wasn’t. Now you don’t want to skip the taste stale step and jump right too taste nothing step, do you?

I hope you get to enjoy the next few weeks of eating. If you do, eat everything you want, no kidding.

    Best wishes,

    Matt

    could be....
I don't know, Tuffie...for me by the 2nd rad treatment, my taste was gone. ALL OF IT. Since I had no chemo, only rads, the docs did not believe me when after the 2nd date with the mask, I was complaining how bad the water that I brought with me tasted (and it was Evian). From that 2nd day until about 6 weeks after, my taste buds went on strike....

So it CAN happen....but I hope in your case it really was a rotten apple.
