Cancer survivors and care givers....

Hey everyone,
Kind of zooming around on different links. Man I have felt alot of the same feelings of frustration and anger at the lack of information and new treatments out there. But cancer no matter what kind it is stinks ! I have had my foot in both worlds so to speak.. was a primary care giver to my Mother for two years with her battle with ovarian cancer. She lost her battle in 2010. But because of her strenghth and attitude, I learned how to help her through it. I also learned that our bodies are ours to make informed accurate decissions on. Learn as much on your cancer as you can....and if your too sick....care givers please step in. Ask questions, and continue to ask...money is a big factor, which simply sucks....but alot of cancer centers have charity care. I hate the name....am very proud person....but do whatever it takes to get better ! I too am now a cancer survivor of 6 months....sounds weird. I have ACC, and battling issues on a daily basis. But positive attitude, informed choices, and knowing I can't blame anyone for not knowing how to fix me (good as new), has helped me get through this ! Continue to be survivors..or as some of my ACC friends say WARRIORS ! And to my Mother, thank you sweet lady for all the hard learned lessons of life ! Katie

    Thank you !
    Tim,
Thank you for your kind reply. I pray every day for a cure for all cancers. I am one of the lucky ones...I have lived life with no regrets ! I'm 52, raised a wonderful bunch of kids and have wittnessed the birth of 8 grandbabies going on our nineth in October. God has truely blessed me. Cancer is hard, and will get us down....I have my rotten days. I am so glad of the two sites I have found with truely amazing, inspirational people. Cancer survivors are truely an amazing bunch of people ! Again thank you Tim...hoping the best for you and your, Katie

    Katie,

You are certainly right, our brains pinball around all the questions of life and what ifs and why me. Some how we manage some perspective or acceptance on this powerful intrusion and learn to deal with it and grow (some how) in little ways. I was in such shock; I could not research my problem and instead dropped into trust mode to those around me. Now that I am better and the initial shock is gone, I am left to ponder whether I got the best treatment or not.

I tell you, this site has opened my eyes to the realization that I sometimes borrow trouble and I seem to be looking for answers to negative (future) results before they happen.

Bless you and shut me up.

    Hi Katie,
Very nice post, sorry for the loss of your mother to this awful invader of
our bodies. Your strength and positive thoughts will help many on here who are
going through or about to start treatment. We are all brought here with one common
denominator and together we can all get through this test that is put in front of us.

    God bless
    Tonsil Dad,

    Dan.

    Hi Katen
I am sorry to hear your Mother lost her battle but glad you found strength in being her caregiver. We can all learn from one another and that is what makes CSN so special and critical to all who cross the road of having cancer or being a caregiver of someone with cancer.

    Thanks for your positive attitude

    Matt,
You have amazing insight, and we all go through the ...what do you mean I have cancer ?
I was so blessed to have seen my parents through this wild adventure...so I kinda had
so to speak a foot up on this. Looking up info on the net or in books is very frustrating. Mine is so rare, that it was very difficult to get the info. My doctors at my cancer center are great and willing to learn...But I am upset there are no treatments other than cutting it out. And mine will come back, that's a gaurentee. That really sucks, but what do you do ? I say life....just live ! Best of luck, you sound like a great person ! Katie

    Dan,
I believe God gives us, or puts us in a place that we can always do positives. I can't fix my cancer..but I won't give into it either. I have found peace of mind and soul talking to other cancer survivors. Thank you for your insights, and kind words.
They mean so much to each one of us that connects...too bad it has to be cancer hunh ?
Best wishes are sent to you, Katie
