Hi all... Some of you know me, many of you don't. It's been a while. Just wanted to let you all know that my husband was diagnosed stage 3 colon cancer of December 9, 2008 at the age of 34. He did 6mo chemo and then we had our baby boy 1 month later! Unfortunately, his first scan showed a spot in his lung (that was actually just barely there even at diagnosis, so I suppose he probably never really was stage 3). and he was given the dreaded stage 4 label February of 2010. He had lung surgery shortly after, but chose not to do more chemo. This decision terrified me, especially because our son wasn't even 5mo old. and it was just so scary to go against the doctors orders, but the chemo just made him sooo sick, and didn't even seem to work (for him). He did start taking a ridiculous amount of herbal (and other) supplements and changed his diet quite a bit, and it made me feel like we were at least doing something! Well, long story short, last week - over two years after his successful lung surgery - he had another PET scan and it was picture perfect!! Such a huge relief! Anyway, I just remember how inspiring the success stories were for me when we were early in the fight so I wanted to share. We were given the horrible odds, and it was scary, but we never lost hope, and my husband is healthier today than he's ever been! Stage 4 isn't a death sentence. In fact, it can be just the opposite! It really can be beat!! Good luck to all of you and thanks for being here. This board has always been a wonderful source of support and information. |

Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your story. I have a couple of very small places on my lung that they are going to remove by surgery. Also the liver, but I was very scared about the lung. Your post today gives me hope. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing.
