Still NED - Keep the Faith

Hello, This is a quick update and most of you won't remember or know me, but I feel compelled to share with all those still fighting the battle and those newly dx. Please do not ever give up hope. My husband is now almost 3 years NED after just getting results today of last weeks scan. I first posted here almost 5-1/2 years ago and I was so scared. Many people gave me encouragement and I hope this post will do the same for you.

Long story short, After his dx stage IV in 2006 , colon resection in 2007 and multiple liver mets at same time and almost no hope of possible surgery, a liver resection was done in late 2007 after 6 mos of chemo (xeloda and oxal plus avastin ) . This was a wedge resection taking 2 plus hours, Unfortunately mets returned within several months and we then did rfa , only to have mets return again in several months and found a new surgeon who was aggressive and did a major resection of 70 percent of the liver less than a year later , followed by adjuvant chemo and my husband is still NED ( by the grace of God and St Jude's intercession , our great doctors and our persistance) now almost 3 years later. His next scan is now January of next year - when we started we did scans every 6 weeks! Don't give up hope. You are all in my prayers. Remember there ARE long term survivors . God Bless

Diane

    Dear Diane
Thank you for sharing your husband's wonderful story.

Not only does it convey hope to all, but it reminds us that we have to push for what we think is the right thing for our body and health.

May there be only clear scans in his future, and many wonderful years for you together.
