Please keep myself and my children in prayer

well I am suvivor of colorectal cancer stage 3, had chemo and radiation, feeding tube, etc, many surgeries. even 1 last yr when my bowel was preforated. went back to ER Sunday in horrible pain, thought it was due to pain in my kidney. But it is because I am backed up, so came home, have been taking colace, zofran, and have no aptteite and cant eat. Its hard for me, I am a single parent wtih 2 kids still at home. I am is so much pain right now, I have packed clothes for kids to go with friends. its nothing like them being home. but i cant take this discomfort anymore. I know in my heart whatever god has attended for me in my life I am okay with it.

    Best Wishes, Barbara!
Your story is just full of pain and sorrow...I'm so sorry for all that you've had happen to you - it's enough for two lifetimes.

I'm assuming you have decided to have the colostomy done?

If so, I wish you well with this new route - from what I've read from others who have gone through it, the procedure will at least provide you some more stability and help cut the chord that is tethering you at home...that in itself, will be the reward I hope that you find.

I hope that all goes as planned and your recovery is not fraught with any issues...

    Here's to "The New Barb."

Oh Barb, I'm so sorry you're feeling this miserable so long after your surgery. I hope you're feeling better soon. Sounds like that surgery is probably the best solution for you to get your life back.

    You got 'em
We tried Magnesium Citrate when my wife had trouble. You drink a whole bottle of it and it makes you go.

    Good luck.

Best to you and your family.

I was backed up once thru all this, so I know how horrible that is. I will pray for you and your children.

    Lactulose
I was given Lactulose when I was backed up - a couple of doses 4 hours apart, and things started moving again... Works much faster than colace. Plus, zofran is constipating, so it is working against you. However, Lactulose beats zofran (and is easy to take). Ask your dr about it.

Sending you good thoughts and wishes, for you and your children.

You have them. So sorry that you are going through all this. I'm surprised that they didn't give you something to help you go and sent you home to deal with it on your own. Hoping that you get some relief very soon. Please keep us advised.

Thinking of you, Barbara. You must feel awful. Colace is just a stool softener, it's not a laxative, so it won't make you go. Do you have some milk of magnesia? It's a pretty mild laxative that won't cramp you up like a lot of them. Sounds like you need something you an take every day that won't make you dependent on it and that will prevent this "backup" from happening. Others have given good suggestions. I hope you are feeling better.

    Hi everyone,

Thank you very much for the postings/support. I really appreciate it. I ended up back in the ER, was admitted under a medical team. I dont have a probelm with going which ia kidblessing. I was so thankful to be admitted. My right kidney was infected due to the stent. The antibodtics they gave me doesnt work so they gave me an IV of Vicodymicin, twice a day which totals 180 per day I would of had to pay out of pocket. So I am a skilled facailty where I am getting the treatments, our house is really close by the school where my kids go to. even if they want to spend the night here they can. It has been good for me to be here, I have said many times I would like to volunteer h and have never done it. So I believe I will do it this time, its close to our house. even thinking to take CEU which is continating(SP) so I can keep my LPN/LVN current. Going in today 4 May at 11 my time in Tx for another stent exchange, so I will be over here as soon as it is done and hopefully will be home on saturday. thank you again everyone

Thank you all for your support. I went on Thursday to see my urogloist(sp), Went had my stent exchanged yesterday. I have been doing this for the past year or more. Not sure what will happen in the future. Have been reading about the blockage due to the radiation. Any suggestions anyone? Really dont want anymore surgeries.

Thank you every1 for the thoughts and prayers for us. Today I went and the took out the PICC line. YEA. But today havent moved my bowels so I am uncomfortable. Will wait to drink stuff until tomorrow. It seems I cant win for losing. Been in horrible pain. So far everything is okay with the new stent. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day
