NED at 3!

I just got back from my lead oncologist's office, who gave me and my wife the great news that my CT scan showed NED! That puts me somewhere around 3 years in remission, and my next scan won't be for another whole year.

That good news gets dampened a bit by the reality that I have a debridement of my left mandible in less than two weeks. So, while my fight against cancer is going well, I still have a lot to overcome from the side effects of my treatments. So it goes with HNC.

    So happy for you Mike!
Great to hear the good news, how inspiring. I'm only a few weeks NED and it still hasn't sunk in. Hope your jaw gets better soon and that the good news will help you in your healing!

    Hi Mike

Great news on the NED report, sorry to hear about the debridement problem. I have a lot of problems with my teeth due to treatment, the biggest problems right now is just not getting the Jaw to open so they can do anything to my teeth. Just another side effects we learn to live with them after a while.

    Take care

    Gifts
Yeah, chemotherapy and radiation treatments--"The gifts that keep on giving." And, toss surgery into that bunch--but I was spared from that. I know that finding vaccines and a cure for cancer have to be the highest priorities, but until then medical research should be giving as much attention to finding less painful, less harmful and faster recovering treatments. Although these treatments have become much more specific and effective, they are still no less harmful to non-cancerous tissue. Two cents, anyway, from an ORN sufferer.

Also, thanks to all who sent congrats on my 3-year NED results yesterday. It feels great (ORN aside) to be more than halfway to the 5-year NED goal!
