Rick's post-radiation recove

Options
Hi everyone from UWMC,
That is the University of Washinfton Medical Center in Seattle. Rick, my husband, who is the IV 3.5year survivor I have written about before is not doing well following his second round of radiation which ended February 15th. He had twenty rounds of very targeted radiation aimed at the tumor at the bottom of his esophagus on into the stomach. rad MD was pleased but the poor guy can't eat or drink without vomitting right after.
He has been here since Sunday and had a scope on Monday which found two ulcers, swelling and a yeast infection. doc thought all was consistent with post radiation trauma. His throat was dilated and he has been in the hospital since with many new problems such as a blood clot, damaged liver and fluids on the belly.
We are still hoping to get back to our ranch in Winthrop in a day or two. I will take the step of calling in hospice to help me with any future problems that can be solved without driving five hours. Still hopeful things will heal enough to eat and enjoy our spring in our beautiful mountain valley.
EC sucks!

I am so sorry to hear things are not going well for Rick
    Mary Pat,

I know it must be frustrating and frightening to be stuck at the hospital while things resolve themselves from Ricks most recent treatment. Sometimes it seems like "one step forward and two steps back" with this disease. As frustrating as being there is, it sounds like maybe Rick is in the best place for now.

I hope Rick will recover soon and be able to return home to enjoy spring.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance!
