Five Surgeries, Two Failed Chemos, Now Finally NED for the 1st Time

In the 2 1/2 years that I've been in this fight, I never had a clean scan. Until this morning, that is. Had the PET/CT at 9:00, and had the email from the radiologist by 1:00...and it was NED. From brain to knees, absolutely no sign of cancer. I have an extremely rare tumor type that had spread all over in the abdomen (including 5 lymph nodes), and my assumption was that I would never make it to this point, especially since my sister lived for barely a year after diagnosis with another oddball cancer. I guess what I want to say is just...don't lose hope. My onc certainly didn't think I would make it this far, and yet here I am, and looking to be around for awhile yet. I never allowed myself to hope, for fear that it would be crushed, but I'm thinking maybe I can indulge myself a little now. Ann

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all

Emily Dickinson

At my post-surgery visit this last time,
my surgeon referred to me as his "professional patient" to the resident who was with him...kind of like being a lab rat or a crash-test dummy, I guess!

    Naked happy dance...
only if the doors are locked, the blinds down, and my family and the neighbors all out of town for the weekend! Oh, and the mirrors covered, so I don't blind myself.
