Break from chemo...

Visit with MO today. I am taking a break from the Chemo Navelbine for at least a month, and a Pet Scan March 1st. Then see him on March 8th and will decide based on the results of the scan whether to continue with this chemo, or look at other options. I will continue w/ weekly infusion of Herceptin and Xgeva every 4 weeks for the bones.

Scares me w/no chemo but also a relief. The UTI's may be something we deal with along with my body not absorbing (not new). Increased pain in spine, tailbone, legs and abdomen are most likely cancer, w/fatigue a combination of the treatment and cancer.

Advised having trouble adjusting the 'tude'. I am getting depressed (normally not an issue), offered anti-depression meds, I refused for now. Need to balance thyroid first, get body to absorb vitamins, and see if time off chemo helps first. I can't add more medicine till the ones I am on are working. The thyroid may be a huge cause of this!

It all sucks, but just saying.... rather have it all suck than the alternative. Now I have three weeks with lots of praying before the Pet Scan!

Time for a pill and funny movie. Good Night everyone.
Hugs and Prayers for all of you!

Oh, Carol, you're going through so much
Sometimes you just get tired of "being strong and being brave." Funny--I just wrote that to a friend yesterday--One thing I know for sure, this ba***rd called breast cancer sucks!
You are trying to juggle so many balls in the air at once--it has to be overwhelming.

I find I can lose myself in a good movie (at least for an hour or two). However, this "thing" is always with you, isn't it?

Don't be afraid about taking that chemo break. Whatever is in there now is still working and maybe your body needs a good break to continue on. Also, the weekly Herceptin is still doing its job.

Another thing that's tough is that PET scan hanging over your head. As positive as we try to be, it's only human to have doubts. I'm praying right along side you that you get a good report.

Hang in there, Carol. You were such a comfort to me when I found out about my bone mets recently. I'm here for you.

    Hugs, Renee

I read your posts and I don't know where you find the strength. I admire you and you do amaze me in all that you have gone through and still are. I applaud you pink sister!

I hate cancer!! I wish that somewhere, somehow, someday, someone would find something, anything to fight this horrid disease so that no one ever has to go through all of this ever again!

You certainly have my prayers for your PET scan. Praying that you will hear good news Carol!

    The biggest hug to you,

    Sue :)

I don't know if you are one
I don't know if you are one that doesn't like the word "warrior", but to me, that is what you are!

You have such strength and determination Carol.

I hope this leave from chemo will help you and I will be praying for you when you have your scan.

    Hang on, limbo is hard
I understand about being worried that you are just sitting letting cancer grow while not doing chemo but it does sound like your body needs a break.

Sounds like you have a plan with the pills and funny movies, I will be thinking of you and praying for you,

Wishing you peace and better days..

    Thanks Eva and everyone!
You are all so supportive, and I am forcing myself to stay up during the day so I sleep at night, so far so good. Getting tired during the day, but could not continue to sleep like I was. I am feeling a lot better the last 2 days, I think part of it is knowing that I am getting the break.

You are all amazing and always in my thoughts and prayers also.

Carol .. You are one of the strongest and
bravest WARRIORS I know -- I wish I there was something I could do or say to
make your fears go away, but I do not. Darn it!

3 weeks of new projects, dinners with you boy's and family -- and body rejuvenation
is what your body, mind and soul requires at this point of treatment.

Hoping for success in thyroid adjustment, and absorption. I personally had thyroid
cancer 20 years, and had my thyroid removed along with radiation -- so I understand
the importance our thyroids have on keeping our body, mood, and PERSONALITIES in
    check.

Gentle hugs, and prayers coming your way dear Sister, Carol.

    Strength, Courage and Hope.

Carol I look up to you and
Carol I look up to you and Nancy like big sisters showing me how to deal with active stage IV...and here you are doing it again.

It sounds to me like you are taking the right steps...that break from chemo might be just what you need. And if it turns out you need the anti-depressant then take it. All these medicines were created so we can use them, it's just one more weapon in the arsenal.

    Big strong healing hugs,

    Linda

I mean physical strength, you are one of the most emotionally strong people I know - or so it looks from this end of cyberspace. I hope the break will give your body an opportunity to get stronger again and provide an opportunity to deal with one thing at a time (thyroid).
