register for Roll Call
My handle is RJC-still-Vertical, I was originally diagnosed with Head & Neck Cancer (squamous cell carcinoma) at the base of the tongue in June of 1991, finally cleared treatments in August of 92 and have been vertical ever since with no recurrence, however complications from the treatments now have me NPO (No food or fluids orally). I'm now taking all nutrition, meds, and fluids by gastric tube (GTube). I posted earlier to this area as well to Long-Term-Survivors and plan on being around for some time yet, so if I can provide anyone any insight from my experiences let me know.

BOT left side, MEC stage 3+. Started 36 rads + 3 chemo (Cisplatin) in late February of 2009. NED since.
I live in Decatur, GA zip 30033.
I am now dealing with osteoradionecrosis (ORN). I had one tooth extracted in October of 2011, and have been very slow to heal from that. I will be evaluated for the next step of ORN treatment in early February, 2012.
I have a blog at http://mikemetzlerbeatscancer.blogspot.com/ that I've used to share this experience with family, friends, other HNC patients, survivors, and caregivers.
I did not find CSN until the fall of 2011, but wish I had done that a lot earlier. It is a great resource in so many ways.
