Anyone had prostrate infection?

This is turning out to be a bad week. Just got home from ER because of allergic reaction to an antibiotic I took. I broke out in hives and was having hard time breathing. Going back the reason for the antibiotic was because of all the pain I've been having this week. The pain was in the rectem also felt like i had to go pee all the time. They think it might be a prostrate infection. I had no fever just intense pain. ER finally gave me a strong IV pain killer which helped. Has anyone had this problem..they say it may take some time to clear this up. I'm going to see onc tomorrw because they had me get a cd scan yesterday. haven't felt too good all week after having treatment last week. this stinks it is suppose to be my few good days before getting treatment again in tues. i'm praying for all of us...this stuff is crazy.

    Hey Jeff
Just wanted to say glad you got to the ER in time. Those anaphylactic shock episodes are scary.
Hope this clears asap. You are right on....it's crazy, and sucks.

If you think prostate might be problem, see a urologist but be
forewarned the probes are NOT pleasant!!!!!!!(They're not gonna say "Stick out your tongue and say Aaaaaahhhhhh.....")steve

As long as this duplicated, might as well add this: you're (like me) at that age where prostate can add to your discomfort if its enlarged.......

My husband Roby has seen an urologist. He put a scope up the uretha (sp, since he doesn't have a rectum anymore that's the only way to check the prostrate and said he had an inflamed prostrate. He's had alot of problems with urination, frequency, urgency and infections. He's been on about 3 rounds of antibiotics, he finished chemo in December and we're hoping some of this is chemo related and will ease up and time goes on.
He's seeing the urologist again tomorrow the other night he could not empty his bladder and was extremly uncomfortable all night, finally got relief the next morning.

    Good Luck

Has "enlarged prostate" been ruled out?
Next uro visit may involve another pleasant probe, this one into bladder to take pictures/video.....I was on two pills for this, for past two months down to one......steve

    Feeling a little better
Yesterday I was able to get another prescription for an antibiotic and so far it seems to be working okay...no hives. I saw an uro and yes i was probed everywhich way! I see the onc on Tues and hope that the antibiotics do their things. What's next?
