Nothing like a dog to improve one's attitude. I have only been without a dog during my college undergrad years and for good reason. I have said many times that I will never trust a person who does not like animals, especially dogs since I am not a cat person although I do like them.

Congrats on your new forever family member....
I noticed earlier today and was going to mention it, but got caught up in something else....
Nothing better than dogs and pets for additional caregiver duties.
My two choclate labs are the best...

The rescue people named him Debo but Jim has renamed him Tebow after the Denver Bronco's quarterback, Tim Tebow. We decided on an older dog because not to many people will adopt older dogs or children for that matter and we wanted a more settled dog. He does not like to be alone. I think he was probably abandoned in a rental because someone just drove by a neighborhood and tossed him out the window. The people saw it happen took him to the shelter. He was all mayyed and covered in dried feces. When we got him he was skin and bone and very subdued. Now he is filling out and likes to play ball at night and loves walks in the park. What a bleesing he is to us.

Tebow is adorable! It's a shame that many older dogs are over looked in the shelters. With how much we have going on right now it's so much easier not to have to deal with the chewing and training of a puppy.
My profile pic is of an 8 year old beagle mix we just adopted last month. We named him Sidney (after Sidney Crosby for any of you hockey fans!) and he is buddies with our other current dog Geno (again.. hockey fans will know that's for another Penguins player Evgeni Malkin).

Noah, (aka, Nizzy) is a Hairless Chinese Crested. He is about 12 pounds of lovable little naked crestie, with hairy hobbit feet, and tons of charm. He will be 6 February 14th. I got him when he was two, only 2 days after I had to put my beloved Kiaya, who was 15, to sleep. Nizzy is stuck to me like velcro 24/7. He will literally crawl up my shirt to be next to me, and feel safe and warm. He's a nutball.
Here is a picture of him and Me, one day when he was cold, and he crawled up and under my track suit jacket.

I understand the attachment
I was given a puppy during my first radiation treatment in 1998. Being single at the time, with working, radiation therapy and a new dog, life was pretty overwhelming. But I loved the dog. He is still with me, old now, but still my most loyal friend (well, excepting my wife who came along in 2002).
Now he sleeps in the car when I go in for treatments. And he's still overjoyed to see me. Dogs and people are meant for each other.

I actually once shelled out the coinage for laser hair removal on my back. It was 90% effective. But there's also this thing called the Phillips Body Groomer. I use it about once a month.
GUYS... MANSCAPE!!!
I keep myself neat and trim. Nothing on the back or shoulders. NOBODY likes hair on ANYONE'S back or shoulders! The arms are a short 1 and 2. The legs a short 1. The belly is a short 1 and the chest is gradual 2 up to 3. And yes it's good for the *ahem* privates... but I won't go into TMI on that one! ;-)
So I'm fuzzy and fun to cuddle with, but I'm not a disgusting hair-beast. I won't body-shave like my fellow triathlete friends, but I will manscape.0 -

Tebow is precious. I just got back yesterday from Christmas with my in-laws and my boys did let me in the front door. They were so glad to see Mama! They are truly my lifelines now! Glad Jim is laughing and smiling. Happy New Year! God Bless!

My Jim is hairy and I love it. He shaved a coyuple of times but I did not like it, especially when it started to grow out. He is really bugged because the hair on his arms and legs has gotten darker, longer and coarser. I told him I draw the line at men who shave their legs. Hair on chest is manly. Guess that is why I adopted a hairy dog:)0
