Just wanted to wish all of you wonderful people on the forum (as well as all the caregivers) a Merry Christmas and a healthier New Year. Buzz and I are so grateful to have him alive and feeling good nearly one year after treatment ended. There were times when I didn't think we would get through the rough times. This forum has been (and still is) a godsend. God bless you all! Karen and Buzz

    I have been a member of this forum for less than 24 hours now and I do not feel alone or isolated anymore. The support here is amazing. I did not realize how isolated I was until I saw that others are going through this too. I'm sorry about that anyone has to go through this but I do not feel alone anymore.

    To you and yours, congrats buzz and family.

    Larry, after you have went through this ordeal, and realize that you have made it through relatively unscathed.

    If you are like me, you'll realize that in some ways, you were lucky to have gotten sick.

    I know that sounds weird, but it tends to put a new perspective on life. What really matters, what's really important...the things that you used to think are a big deal, aren't so much.

    The little things you forgot and take for granted, are actually the bigger things you should appreciate and pay extra attention to.

    Sometimes, I just think that I get it a little more than I used to.

    You are right
    You are right, John. Cancer does change you and makes you appreciate and pay attention to that taken for granted. And it makes you learn things about yourself you never knew. You learn to find and use that strength buried in yourself, you learn how to take care of yourself and how to ask others for help.

    I sure know what you mean about perspective! I told my friends this week that it was a year ago that my treatments ended and I came home. It has been the worst and the best week of my life.
    I am grateful for friends that stepped up and helped me in so many ways. I appreciate the small things in life that I took for granted also; like swallowing and eating.
    Life IS good.
