My Dad's getting his first chemo tomorrow and I wont be there ...will be going there on the 27th Dec.., William, I know what you told me but as I am here(China) its really difficult for them to listen to me.Since they said its advance stage they.. that is the Doctor and my Dad are in real hurry to get the chemo done..infact they wanted to start the Chemo today but they are settling for tomorrow.. the Doctor in Mumbai said treatment will always begin with chemo and radiation (standard procedure) for this type so am little at peace... And seeing Shammi's mail I was releived to put a name on the specialist in India at last..I have googled on Dr Dr Sultan Pradhan (not Sultana I think :) )and I beleive he's based out in Mumbai ...am very comfortable in Mumbai as I used to live and work there few years ago. Our next step will be to try and get an appointment with this Doctor..after my Dad's recovery from his Chemo/radiation of course ..and am also waiting for the proper feedback I will get tomorrow from the Mumbai specialist.

William, maybe my Dad's has spread to the distant lymph node ..I just dont know and everyone(even some doctor relative back home) is saying its advance, that much I know but the Doctor said for now its 3rd stage but investigation is still going on so a to find out if it has spread further ....I only hope he's got a chance fight it ..I ask God to just give him a fighting chance...I told my parents about your prayers from America ...much appreciated , hope you'll always remember us in your prayers.
And Shammi thanks for your input...glad to hear that your father is operatable ..I hope he makes a full recovery and yes you are lucky to have Doctors in your family ..which hospi are you in Delhi?And why didnt you go for Dr Sultan if as you say he's the best? Do keep us posted on the progress of your Dad..by the way how is he taking the Chemo, any side effect for him?
And does he do both Chemo and radiation together(at the same time)?

    hi zoe ...

    i hope the treatment goes well and the tumor shrinks enough to be operatable.....my heart weeps when i see my own dad suffering from chemo and radio therapy side effects......and as for u r question u asked why am i having a surgery for my dad in delhi .....its because i have family here my aunt and uncle both of them are doctors....so dad didnt have stay in hospital for the 5 weeks treatment .....and as for surgery the same reason goes....having loved ones near u makes a difference ....and my aunt and uncle being doctors they know the best doctors in delhi .....thts why we are treating him here.......

    to see u r dad in pain can be one of the worst feeling i have encountered .....i hope u r dad doesnt go through side effects and soon becomes operable ......we should all be positive ....

    Thanks for the support..I can understand and yes I think Delhi is equally good specially with your anunt and uncle being doctors.

    My Dad today has just taken chemo pactitaxel(day1) so far he is ok. Day 2&3 he will be taking cisplatin.

    I can imagine what you go through but remember all that will pay off in the long run for his full recovery. And I hope he'll bounce back to his old self soon
