Got the go ahead for cimetadine...

I called my husband's surgeon today (talked to her nurse) to inform her that unless she could give me a really good reason not to that I was administering his first dose today. I told her that I understood that the research was mainly on stage lll patients but if it won't hurt him to try then we are going to. The nurse called back within 10 minutes to tell me that the surgeon has no problem with cimetadine. Every thing I have read mentioned 800 mg... I'm wondering if we should do half in the morning and half at night or all at the same time.
Is there any stage lv's that have used cimetadine and if so was it at the suggestion of your doc? Any feed back would be much appreciated.
God's blessings to you all.
Brenda

    IV cimetidine
Have yet to meet a doc who knew the cimetidine connection but our last surgeons were pretty enthusiastic about it, after seeing wife and her records. I think they adopted it.

In all probability the hospital pharmacy will have to preorder IV cimetidine for an operation, and won't notice until too late if you don't insist ahead. Been there, had to use oral the day of the operation because their previous stock ran out in 2004.

My wife, tallish, mostly uses 1200-1600 mg/day - 800 at nite near bed time, rest in the morning for stage IV, her surgeon ordered 800 mg/6 hr (3200mg/day) for surgery. Good thing we brought our own box.

    That just boggles my mind
That just boggles my mind that they aren't atleast familiar with the study even if it was mostly stage lll. May I ask what stage your wife was? I guess I better get my list together for his upcoming surgery so they have a chance to order what they need to order. ;)

    IV
IVa or IVb mostly depending on lung thingies, minor question marks on liver, the two big bullets were expected to be peritoneal carcinomatosis and para-aortic lymph nodes. We're doing a *lot more* than cimetidine.

    cimetidine
I take 800 mg of cimetidine daily- half in the a.m. & half in the p.m.
My oncologist said perhaps cimetidine will help- can't hurt- the cancer to not spread beyond where it already is. I have a lot of tumors in my lungs and 4 in my liver, but I was diagnosed over 4 yrs ago and in this time it has not spread to any new organs or additional places in my body (although I have grown new tumors in the liver and lungs- just not any new locations). I honestly don't know if it has helped or not, but it doesn't seem to hurt, so I will continue taking it.
