Well, here we are...Treatmetn Week. We have Chemo Doc appointment tomorrow, then start Chemo Wednesday bright and early. Dad is doing the Platinol, Epirubicin, 5FU (6 day countinous infusion)protocol we believe based on medical oncologist meeting last week. What major symptoms should I expect this week?

Like William, I have had very few side effects and I have been at it 191/2 months. I do recognise that I seem to be the exception. I have had Epirubicin and 5FU but did Cistplatin instead of platinol. My biggest ongoing issue is fatigue which I have just learned to accept and do the things I can and don't worry about the things I can't. I am my own caregiver so I do pace myself everyday. I am now on my 5th chemo drug and this one has taken the most out of me but I am still doing well and grateful for that. As I have learned on this site, a Stage IV remaining stable for the length of time I have is most unusual. I have no pain and am on no pain meds other than when I take my monthly shot to boost my white count. The shot causes much bone pain but a couple of doses of Oxycodone handles that nicely. I have had no spread outside the original EC tumor and a small spot in the liver. The liver size has not grown at all. It is my belief that attitude is 75 persent of the battle with the disease and the chemo. If your dad can remain as upbeat as possible, stay focused on positive activities and keep the fluids and calories he will do so much better. One note of caution; with Epirubison, dehydration is a problem. Talk to the doctor about IV fluids a day or so after treatement. It really helps. Sam
