Hole in cartilage of nose

My hubby just discovered this today! It has to be from radiation. Anyone else have this??

Thanks,
Tammy

    Hi Tammy
I haven't had that problem yet, but it makes sense. The cartilage has a very poor blood supply. Any compromise, like by radiation injury to the structure, would make someone prone to this. This is a frequent complication for cocaine users, who manage to constrict the vessels often enough to create the same problem. Does he have any symptoms from this?

    Hi Tammy

I had radiation twice to the face and never had a problem like that so I don’t believe it is from Radiation but to be sure I would check with his ENT.

Sorry, have to laugh at this point. Geeze, what else. No, no other symptoms. No pain, no bleeding. nothing. just a hole. Good grief.

He has a doc appt tomorrow, so he'll show him them. He can't be the only one.....

    Thanks for the quick responses!

    Whistle while you work

Doctors warn us about blowing our nose too hard after treatment, not sure if it because of damage tissue or what. As in my case with 1/3rd of my ear drum missing if I blow on my nose I can whistle out of my left ear

Please let us know what his doctor says as this is interesting to see what happened and how the hole formed

    Thanks

    Can't think of anything funny
I didn't want to reply until I came up with a funny reply, but you've stumped me with "Whistle while you work".

Still, no doc has ever seen this! Can you believe that? One doc asked him if he used cocaine pretty hard. *dumfounded look*

    Thanks,
    Tammy

    Hi Tammy

Sorry about the stumping but as I read your post all I could do was to think of when I blow my nose and the left ear would Whistles. I am not surprise to see that the doctors have no idea at what could have cause it, sometime there is no explanation of things.

    Wishing you both the best
