Mom CT scan results

The cancer is contained in the esophagus, but there are some swollen nodes directly around tumor. We were able to get in to see the radiologist immediately. We drove like a bat out of hell, but we are here now. They are setting mom up for radiation. In meantime we have appt with a cancer researcher in Long Beach to assay the cancer cells to see if there is a chemo that can be administered.

We are waiting for a lab order for bloodwork then we need anoer CT and MRI.

Amazing the speed these medical folks work!

    I agree with your speed
I agree with your speed observation. I had my initial Upper GI done which discovered the tumor on February the 28th. I started chemo on March 22. And I would have started a week sooner if not for needing to have a mediport implanted.

Good luck on your Mother's treatment plan. Did they give you guys a TNM for proper staging yet?

    I don't know staging. All I
I don't know staging. All I know is it has not spread. We got a call that the CT Scan of the tumor and the MRI of the kidney is set for tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.

We are going to Rational-T for an assay of the tumor cells. This place uses the tumor and finds the chemo cocktail that kills it. We need to get in to see them before any chemo or rads start. We are lucky to have an appointment this Wednesday. After we talk to this doctor, we will know whether or not to start rads.

I don't know the staging. I have not read the 20+ sheets of reports that were handed to me today. I loved the folks at the Oncology place. The doctor was fantastic and spent so much time with us even though we did not have an appointment.

I cannot remember what I said in my earlier post, but mom is now on Morphine Sulpher plus Vicodin. Hopefully this will keep her pain at bay.

I'm so thankful that since the horrible EC diagnosis, God has been merciful! And thanks to everyone on this website!

Staging won't be complete until the CT results are in
The CT scan should cover from neck to groin and not just the tumor. That will tell the rest o the story, but so far it looks pretty good.

Good luck on the remaining scans.

    We already did the chest
We already did the chest abdomen and pelvic CT scan. This is a second CT scan on the tumor only in preparation for radiation. I have looked at the CT Scan report and nowhere does it have TNM numbers. It is 4 pages. There are some mistakes on the form - for one it shows her having a NuvaRing! Huh? She's 84 and certainly does not use one! It shows her weight as 191. Are you kidding me? She doesn't even weigh 130.

There is something very wrong with this report. I'm calling the doctor tomorrow. Says she gets intermittent leg swelling before her menstrual period! And swelling on a recent trip to Las Vegas. Not my mom! Oh wait a minute. I have the wrong report! The name of the patient isn't even my mom's. Somebody made a mistake. Perhaps at the doc's office.

Good grief. I stopped writing this to look carefully at mom's CT report. It contained several pages of another patient's information. This error must have been at the doc's office not the place where they did the CT scan. Ok... now that THAT problem is solved, I scanned the report and there is no staging listed. The scan tomorrow is just the tumor. The MRI is to make certain the kidney is functional.

I received 6 pages in the CT
I received 6 pages in the CT report only 2 weren't my mom's. I think it was just a mistake at the Doc's office. I do need to fix it at the Oncologist's office - I'm sure they copied all 6 pages and that other gal's stuff is attached to my mom's stuff! I'll fix it next time I'm in there.

I wonder why the CT scan of the body didn't give us staging. I'll ask the oncologist.

Anyone heard of Rational-T? That's where we're gong on Wednesday. check out Rational-T.com and see what you think. Quite pricey, but I think worth it.

I feel much better today. I was really sick last night whatever I ate came back up. I guess it was all the stress of the day. Or I'm having chemo sympathy pains! Mom must be at the Oncology Lab right now. Her CT scan and MRI are being done today. Not sure when Rads start.
