    Constipation
I was told to use a stool softener for constipation and to use Magnesium Citrate to keep the bowels moving. I have not needed both of them together, and have only needed 1/3 to 1/2 of a 10 oz bottle of Magnesium Citrate to get things moving along. We are all so different, you will have to discover through trial and error what is right for you. Too much Magnesium Citrate gave me diarrhea. Do not allow yourself stay constipated for long. Good luck, Geni

    LOTS OF LIQUIDS
Psyllium is great, but as with any fiber you need to have lots of fluids. Stool softeners are a god-send, because no matter how much fiber you take it sometimes it is still difficult. My doc initially had me on Colace, but it's pretty expensive. Then he switched me to Senna-S (that's with the softener) and I took it pretty much daily. If you wait till you have a problem you'll be 'chasing' it and risk potential blockages. You can take just a softener if you think you're getting enough fiber.

Hope this helps, and I hope you aren't too miserable. I know just how you feel!

Should I stop taking Psyllium and start taking Colace or I can take both?

I THINK YOU CAN TAKE BOTH
You may have to experiment to find the right combination for you. If the psyllium agrees with you (doesn't make you too gassy and you're drinking lots of fluids), I would try to keep taking it. And I think you'll be able to take the Colace as well. Another product I thought about is one that my husband takes called Miralax. It's pretty tolerable (no yucky taste), and if taken daily you can avoid the 'back-ups'.

I truly hope this helps. Being constipated is MISERABLE! Let us know how you're doing.
