hello, on saturday i went to see chinese herbalist, he has great reputation and lots of happy clients.he was very nice, soft spoken, his English was well enough to communicate, took my hand - listend to my pulse and strangly enough his first question was: "do you cry a lot?" . which i do. also he told me that i have headaches and high blood pressure.
his final diagnosis were - that my body is too acidic and i need to alcalyze it more.
eat more greens, no meat, just little bit of fish, no fruits,
lentils and grains are ok.
also - Try to be Happier! He gave me bunch of herbs and he said they will help with hot flashes, headaches, blood pressure and over all to relax my body and mind.
one problem - i have no idea - what those herbs are - as everything was written in chinese.
so far i drink them for two days - one noticable effect - i completely dry - do not have hot flashes - which i am super happy about and i do sleep well for the last 2 nights.
as for the diet - i already eat well, of course not too strict, sometime i do have sweets - mainly dark chocolate and fruits.
i would like to know if any of you going to chinese doctors and had any success and if you have any suggestions.
i am on chemo break now - so i am comfortable it is not interfiering with chemo
God Bless
Victoria

    Chinese Medicine
    Victoria,
I have been seeing someone who practices Chinese Medicine since a little before completing chemo. He too helps me with my hot flashes, among other things. Is he doing accupuncture on you as well as prescribing herbs? My guess is that the herbs he gave you contain the same herbs that are in the Chinese herbal mixture called "Free and Easy Wanderer" or "Free and Easy Wanderer Plus." You should be able to find a list of the ingredients online. If you continue to be "dry" let your herbalist know, as this may mean he needs to tweak the mixture he has given you. Dry, wet, cold, and heat are all symptoms of imbalance in Chinese medicine.

    Chemo
    Victoria,
I hope with all my heart that you don't have to go on chemo again. If you do, you can ask the herbalist whether the herbs will affect the chemo. To be on the safe side, you can discontinue them 48 hours before and after chemo. I took some supplements during treatment that could have affected the chemo, but if they are out of your system during that window, they will not interfere. Is he giving you anything to address the tumors? Are you on the "Anti-cancer" diet?

    chemo
    hi,
herbalist said that he hopes i will not need a chemo, but it is too early to say..
so - i think he did include special herbsfor that, I am on anti-cancer diet - for the most part.i do have an read anti-cancer book by David Servan-Shreiber. Absolutely love that book. But have to admit sometimes i do have some beef steak or something sweet.
i also take some suppliments - like calcium, vitamin, D, B, magnesium, Selenium.
I would like to ask you- what do you think of wheatglass and spirulina?
do you incorporate them in your diet?
    thank you

    wheatgrass & spriulina
I think both of these foods have a lot to offer. I don't currently take them, but when I get back into juicing, I will definitely do the wheatgrass. If you are getting a spirulina product, I would check the label to make sure it doesn't contain high levels of iron or copper. It sounds as if you are taking some good supplements (as long as the vitamin does not contain iron). Personally, I think curcumin is a great cancer-fighting supplement. I take 4 grams daily. It is better absorbed if it contains black pepper (also called bioperine). Alternatively, you can add turmeric to your diet. Evidently, it can cause problems if you have a lot of gall stones, just so you are aware.
Beef is okay if it is grass-fed AND grass-finished, and of course hormone and antibiotic free. When I have a sweet tooth, I like Coconut Bliss Ice Cream, made with coconut milk and agave (for sweetness). It comes in a variety of flavors.
Hope your herbs and diet get you well.

    turmeric
i do add turmeric to my diet - love indian and thai food, so it is easy for me to incorporate. Cococnut Bliss - yes- i know them, it is good and it is available in many places in SF. I also have agave and add in place of sugar.
Spirulina- i did take while back and now considering to start again.
i so want to believe everything we do helps, but you know- sometime i have moments i think that cancer has mind and life on its own and we can not stop it. But i try to rid of such thoughts as quickly as possible:))

    A mind of its own
I think if we understood the disease better, we would know how it works and it wouldn't seem so unpredictable. I just know that there are things we can do to tip the scales in our favor and it makes me feel better just knowing I'm doing what I can. Keep the faith!
