in Head and Neck Cancer #1
Sorry for my 2 week AWOL stint they stuck me in hospital. Gagging on NGT so much I nearly burst a vessel, Could not get enough nutrition in or H2O so on a drip.Shoot out of Hospital 0530hrs to miss traffic every morning for Radiation except the day they actually put me under to try PEG by endoscope. No go need surgery had CT not possible to do it surgical because of previous ops the lesions and the fact my intestines are on top of my stomach. Hehehe I am special always to the wife so


So another NGT and close monitoring incase of shock because no food for 4 days.
To be fair they did offer me a PIC but as Mon is my last radiation I am hopeing that in 2 weeks I will be on the mend.
Looking forward to catching up on all the goings on here.

PS John I am still buying the lotto tickets so you can do your fishing trip down under LOL

    So glad to hear from you. Thank Mrs. Ray Todd for posting. Sorry for what you had to go through but the hospital was the best place to be to get nutrition and hydration. Glad you didn't try to tough it out. Almost done! a few more weeks and then you will be on the mend. Take it slow, listen to your body. I remember I needed a lot of rest, tired easily. I have 6 more radiation sessions left this time. Thanks for the post.

    Sorry to hear you've had a hairy time lately, though. Wow - one radiation left. For me, your rad time has flown. Hope for you, recovery time flies, and you have a smoother time of it from here out. Please let your wife know that we appreciate her spending her time and effort to update us on your status when we're sure her plate was already overflowing. Do well.

    Glad you are back home! Hugs to you both and so happy that your rad time is dwindling down..for some reason or other the few weeks after rad finishes seems to be hard on some, it sure was on me.

    really nice off you all. My suspicions were correct home and especially Merryl are the best pain killer or endorphins releaser out.I am one of those strange dudes that Hospital is a friend not a stranger but home and family is the best medicine out so to all you other halves THANKYOU a million times (of course my other half is better than yours nah nah LOL). Love you all.

    LOL, man, and I thought you was tough...LOL.... Hey, no biggie Ray, we all have two steps forward and one back at times...

    The key is knowing when you are slding back and taking action...

    Sounds like between you, the misses and your MD's you have that under control.

    No more getting up everday for rads, you are done, cooked, well done actually......

    Start concentrating on thos lottery numbers.

    No I am just doing what they call resting the meat.Wow gotta tell you The pain is horrendous but the worst is twice the NGT has tried to come up.

    You should start feeling well soon....

    The thought of not having to go to rads and all and recovery on your own will kick in soon and two steps forward, one back for awhile...but a little further each step further.

    Now that the bad stuff is over and your body can starts the healing process. It will take sometime but soon you will be a new man again with a new normal you.

    Gotta tell you people the mind if i could find mine is a miracle Just getting home and a hug from my wife (she who must be obeyed) released endorphins with a much better effect than Paracetamol Oxy and whatever this patch is all put together.
    Must be honest frightened to sleep its so bad at the moment that my only fluid and nutrient are through the NGT and i had 3 real bad gagging episodes starting at 0100Hrs yesterday. They said the only thing left would be intravenous feeding and I cannot see anyway to get a rib eye through that.

    when you are not feeling well I marvel at the humor you maintain. Glad to see you back and sending blessing that you get back to normal or whatever normal my be after this journey.

    don't mind the dark
    from time to time but that manure takes a bit of getting used to

    Fungal infection is normal in your case; I had it so bad onetime it was black and growing on my tongue when I showed the doctor. So you are not the only one putting your foot into your mouth… :)
