A Great Day!

I spent the morning in Forest Park, St. Louis at the 5th annual Roc Star 5K. There were about 2000 participants and they presented a check for $55,000 to Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes Hospital. My team had 20 people (aunts and uncles, cousins, siblings, my daughter, mom and husband). It was our first year and now that we're organized - watch out next year! Also wanted to post a survivor's video that I was honored to be in. GYNCA is a not for profit here in Springfield, MO that serves women in 22 counties with non-medical financial aid, mentoring, education and support. The video was premiered at our first "Teal to Heal" event on September 9th. We raised over $60,000 and it all stays in our area helping women and their families.

    team power
Having a "team" behind you is very empowering and I'm so pleased to hear that the event was so well recieved. Teal walks are finally coming into their own and we can have hope that the monies raised and attention given to early detection will help. Way to go!
