Genetic Counseling/Testing

Has anyone here had genetic counseling or testing?

I am scheduled to start this in a couple of weeks and find it appalling how little I know about my ancestors' health. I guess it is typical because back then, people were very secretive. A cousin of mine who is our family's genealogist has been helping me - he knows how to access a site that has death certificates, etc. But still.....

I did this a couple of years
I did this a couple of years ago. No genetic mutations were found however results come with the caveat that they can only test for currently identified mutations not any yet to be found. As well, the report noted that families can have common envirnmental issues which may be known or unknown to be a factor in cancer etiology. But if one were to be identified as having any of the known mutations, the information can be extremely valuable for family members which is why I chose to do it.

I am doing this because I have a daughter, a sister, and a niece who need this information. My sister is going with me to the counseling session - mostly just to be sure I get the information straight!

    Genetic testing
I had Brca 1&2 testing, the ill person needs to do it, I was 'clean' meaning my Uterine Ca Stage IV Grade III, was not caused by Brca 1 or 2 gene. My siblings and kids were pleased but there are still a lot of unanswered questions.
