My condolences for you and yours....
Try and remember the good times and not the issues with the disease...The hurt will lessen each day, but the memories made will be the backbone of healing...I am truly sorry and will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers......love to each of you.....Clift

    We're Sorry, Patti
I know Dennis went 'round and 'round for five years and some change - I've kept up with you for 2 of those years and know it was very hard on you. We're just over the 7-year mark and I know how draining and hard it is to fight for so many years on end.

It's a feeling that even folks on here can never truly understand until they have traveled that kind of distance for themselves.

Recurrence is always so difficult to battle and it seems that cancer's biggest weapon against us is Time and Persistence. It's a war of attrition with each side seeing how long each side can outlast the other one.

My sincerest condolences on the passing of your man, whom you've spent your teenage and adult life with. Some things like that are never replaceable and probably shouldn't be - that's what makes them so special.

I know we tire of hearing "Time will heal all wounds." And while I don't believe that's really ever true, I hope that you reach a point where the pain lessens and hurts you less and your memories become filled more with what he was, rather than what he had to go through.

That will be the way to remember Dennis.

I think I see him off in the distance "riding in the wind" as you say - only he's not wearning a helmet. But, he won't need one as he's "riding with angels now."

I'm truly very, very sorry and I know we all want to wish this pain away for you - but we understand it's all part of the process and a necessary stop as his journey rides to a close. When you can look back and reflect on his life - a comforting thought must be how he loved you and how he took care of you.

The greatest gift on this earth is when two people really love each other and and I can readily see it through others. It's a longing that many of us have and search for, but some of us never find it.

Your blessing was that you and Dennis did and 42 years is an incredible accomplishment that anyone would be very proud of.

I want to wish for you now some peace, comfort and strength in the coming days to help guide through this most difficult time.

    -Craig

    My deepest condolences. I
My deepest condolences. I also married my high school sweetheart and lost him suddenly at the age of 52. So i know the loss. I also know this. Take things at your own pace. Do not go by what others may think. Let others help you and cry when you need to. Most importantly don't be afraid to seek help if you think you need it.
You will laugh again, I promise. But right now it is one day at a time.
If i can be of help please do not hesitate to pm.

God Bless and bring you and yours peace.

Sorry doesn't quite say it all but the word we mean the most
    Patt,
As I write this, the tears fall down my cheeks. My sorrow isn't for Dennis, h#ll, he's riding his BMW with the wind on his face and not one bug around to get in his teeth. My sorrow is for you, your son and grandson, those left behind. I know tonight you will reach out to touch him as you lay down in your bed and your tears that will inevitably fall, when you remember he is no longer there. But I want you to remember this, he fought hard to be with you all on this earth, and just know that his spirit is there with you now, watching over you, ebbing into your soul, letting you know that it's all right, he's okay now, and he will watch over you and your son and your son's son for the rest of your being on this earth. Take comfort in all your time together, your happy and even sad moments, remember he never left you willingly, that your love was there for each other.
    My thoughts are with you,
    Winter Marie
