Goodnight Irene! How is everyone?

Hope everyone is okay! We were actually a little west of the worst hit in PA. (We got the Memorial Day storm pretty bad - tress and wires down and loss of power so we haven't gotten a pass this summer.) Just east of us is a lot of damage and schools that were scheduled to open today couldn't because they don't have power. Some that do are being used as shelters. I've seen all the pictures on the news and have been worried and wondering about those closer to the coast and in the New England area. Please post when you can and let us hear how you are. Prayers have been and continue to be sent your way. Please stay safe!!!!!

Hi! All is well here in
Hi! All is well here in Eastern Mass. It was intense winds with a lot of downed trees and quite a few of my neighbors still have no electricity.
All in all though it could have been so much worse.
    Thanks for checking on us.
    Hugs,

Nearly 9 inches of rain here!

Here in southeastern PA we got 8-9 inches of rain and lots of strong wind. There is still alot of flooding and several roads are closed. But, it could have been worse.

    OK HERE -NYC!
Thank you for checking on us. :)

I had to evacuate my building as I was on zone A. Funny enough the mouth of the hurricane was above my building so good thing I left. Although, the damages weren't bad. Some apts' roofs were in pretty bad shape, and some fell down! I was one of the lucky ones. Thank God.

My pets are doing OK too.

We had lots of rain and wind. Power has been out for a lot of us; mostly we had fallen tree limbs and water in our basements. Several neighbors lost 30-year-old maple trees that fell on their houses and cars and did a lot of damage. Like Skipper said, lots of schools didn't open for their first day today. But all in all, we were pretty lucky. My son and his in-laws were to go to the Outer Banks for vacation on Saturday but aren't able to get in until Tuesday. You-tube videos from there show a real mess.

lost the grill, a huge tree
lost the grill, a huge tree would have hit the house but fell the other way. lost power for 14 hours. ate too many ice cream sandwiches (what can I say? someone had too, they were melting) Friends are still without power. So i feel fortunate!

    Checking in..
    Hi,

all is well, I am safe and sound. We just had lots of rain
and some serious wind. But I was cozy and had a great
    book that needed reading.

Irene did quiet some damage but it could have been
so much worse without our great weathermen warning
us in a timely manner. Hope everyone is ok.

    Hugs,
    Ayse

    We are ok
Still no power, How am I on this site, you may ask? A generator! Yay!! Worst was no phone, cable or internet. I thought I was prepared, but not for the estimated time w/o elec. We can't leave the generator running when we're not here. We are supposed to go camping this weekend, but can't leave the house (fridge, freezer) w/o elec.

That sounds petty, because I know that this was an absolutely horrible storm. Several communities the next county over in the Catskills were swept away. I have friends in those communities and am waiting to hear. We have 2 extra rooms, a blow up bed and the camper to put people up.

    I hope everyone is safe.

    Ok of course
As I am a Michigander however, my son was 37 miles from the Virginia quake and then had to go to his in=laws two days later to ride out the hurricane in thier basement. They got pepared for a post hurricane cookout of the food in the freezer. Double whammy for him but he, the family, and extended family are ok.
