I found this very interesting. My husband had suffered with heart burn for years before his EC diagnosis. He opted for medication instead of surgery to treat. Hindsight...right? Well I thought, in case you know anyone, or have a family member with hart burn now, they should know there are more options.

Just a side note: This is the surgeon that operated on my husband. I would recomend him to anyone in this area, Oklahoma, that does not have the means or desire to travel for teatment. He was in very good hands.

    Thank You
Hello and welcome to the EC board. Thank you for your post! My dad, too suffered for many many years with heartburn/acid reflux. Treated it with meds for many years. In 2008, he knew something was wrong. He took himself to the gastro dr. and told him he needed a scope done. Scope done...dad has EC stage IV. If only the drs would have suggested a scope many years ago...who knows? There is also a wonderful orginization called, ECAN.org. This orginization promotes making people aware that heartburn/acid reflux can cause cancer. The month of April has been declared National EC Awareness Month because of them. Thanks again and thank God every day that your husband was able to have this surgery and is still here today! Continue to spread the word!
