Learned something new from my eye doctor today

I love my eye doc! Besides being a brain cancer survivor, he is so compassionate. I asked him about a side effect I have been having from cisplatin/gemzar. I've been noticing that for about a week after infusion, I think I see shadows/shapes/etc. out of the corner of my eyes. He told me that your eyes get there blood supply from the nose side of your eye to the outside and that is a sign of lower blood oxygen levels. Has anyone else experienced this? I think I have a new side effect and I'm calling it "chemo eyes" :)

    Double Vision
I never experienced chemo eyes. But a week or so before I went for my debulking surgery, and was still in denial that I actually had ovarian cancer, I went to see the ophthamologist because I was having somewhat fuzzy, slightly double vision. He ordered a brain MRI to ensure that no tumors were affecting my brain, but he also said that when the body is fighting ovarian cancer it produces an antibody that can affect your vision.

    I think the steroids can
I think the steroids can accelerate cataract formation. I guess cataracts are fixed easily enough. Usually, a person with cataracts will see halos around lights at night.

    I experienced shadows and
flickering in my eyes whilst I was on carbo/taxol. It carried on for a few weeks afterwards then cleared up. I saw an opthalmic surgeon a few times and he didn't seem to think it was chemo related but whilst I was in hospital I met a couple of other women who experienced the same symptoms. I'm now on doxil, just one infusion so far, but it doesn't seem to be happening this time

    I have flickering in both
I have flickering in both eyes. It started in the right eye and eventually the left followed. I can't tell if it is an eye lid twitch or flickering. Just something new to mention to the oncologist.

I have migraines with auras and they are not quite the same.

I seemed to experience fuzziness for a while and then it
dissapated after I was done for months with the chemo.

I experience 'chemo eyes' as someone named it. I was told this could be a side effect and it's usually only 3 or 4 days that I have what I call fuzzy vision.

    Vision
My vision was ok except for short arm issues, I noticed after my surgery that my distance vision was horrible, when in a store I had to look down because it made me dizzy looking ahead. I now wear bifocals which I hate....but I can see!!!
    Staying in focus,

    chemo eyes
    MWEE,

I get that too! It is the outside corner of the eyes and I've experienced it in both eyes...had no idea what it was. I just finished 6 rounds of Carbo/Taxol and have had a heck of a time with red and white blood counts and very labored breathing so not at all surprised that perhaps my blood isn't carrying enough oxygen. Thank you for your info!
