nausea ?

I had my 3rd treatment of carbo, taxol, and avaistan on Tuesday (9th). For the first time since I began treatments I am having some nausea. So far, no vomiting. I have a prescription for promethazine (generic for Phenegran) 25 mg. Has anyone taken this? I know it can cause drowsiness. Even meds that aren't supposed to cause drowsiness can make me drowsy :) I always get nervous before taking any med for the first time.

Thanks, Carla

    Zofran
I took promethazine a couple of times, but opted for the Zofran, which I already had filled. It generally did the trick, and sometimes I would take it preemptively, when I expected I would become nauseated. I don't know whether you have that. Sometimes it has to be preapproved through the insurance, because it is more expensive. From what I hear, Zofran is the drug of choice, when it comes to nausea, because it is so effective.

I take Zofran and a steroid
I take Zofran and a steroid twice a day to suppress nausea and vomiting. Then I have Compazine to take as needed. After the first treatment I had to take the Compazine one time. After this second treatment on the 10th, I had to take it twice. Phenegran makes me drowsy but so far Zofran has not had that effect on me.

    I take reglan
I've had Zofran, Aloxi & Emend. Aloxi & Zofran worked well but caused severe constipation for me. Reglan works for me & no constipation.

    Zofran/Phenergan
Zofran wroked fine for me during inital 6 treatments of Carboplatin/Taxol. During last 3 treatments this year of Cisplatin/Doxirubucin, it did not work for me and we tried Emend and several others to no avail-ended up in hospital from severe dehydration after bouts of nausea. They gave me Zofran in IV and it did help that way. Doc at hospital told me it works very well in IV but often pills are not always effective. He gave me prescription for Phenergan and it worked well-I take pills but he and nurses say the suppositories are amazing. It makes me a bit groggy-I would not drive or anything - but I have not fallen asleep sitting up like I have done with benadryl. My nausea seems to hit worse in eveninh hours or overnight so I usually time the pills accordingly and would not be driving then anyway.

Hi Carla, We are on the same treatment schedule. I just had my 3rd treatment on the 9th also. I found Zofran works good for me and doesn't make me drowsy. Are you having any aches? Just curious, as this treatment was the worse one yet for me. Take care!

Hi. Yes, this one was much
Hi. Yes, this one was much worse. Actually the first two treatments were almost like non-events. I think I got spoiled. LOL! Did you take a shot 24 hrs. later? I did, and yes it gave me body aches. It did not after the second treatment. My shoulders, back, and legs ached. Thankfully, I am feeling much better today. That's kinda neat that we're on the same schedule. Where do you live? I am in MS. I think I am going to have to try to eat more the days before and after chemo. I'm trying to maintain weight. I weigh less than I ever remember weighing. I lost 45 lbs. before/after surgery. I feel great. Take care and best wishes!

    Hi
Yes, I do get the shot 24 hours later. Still feeling achy today, mainly in my legs, but other than that I can't complain. I don't have any problems eating. I live in Florida, we are not too far from each other. lol Best wishes to you!

    I started off with decadron
I started off with decadron and zofran after my first chemo and the nause was just horrible then they added phenergan with the other two and that seemed to help much more on the second round of chemo I wll be having my third round on thursday
