    Many women here doing Taxol
Buzz, this doesn't sound right to me....We have many women here who have just completed, are currently doing, or are about to start Taxol. It's still very common.

    Anyone else hear anything different?

Taxotere is very similar (both drugs are classified as "taxanes,") though it's usually given in combination with other drugs when used to treat breast cancer, whereas Taxol is usually given by itself.

There are 3 taxane meds that I know of: taxol, taxotere and abraxane. There has been a nationwide shortage of taxol reported. It is very scary--many generic drugs are suddenly in short supply. We are having problems in the NICU finding substitutes for certain meds and elctrolytes that we use such as sodium acetate and potassium acetate.
