Smart Bomb

I visited my chemo Oncologist yesterday and he says the cancer in my cheek, lungs, back is very rare since it started out as salivary gland cancer. So, he says he does not have a good idea on what chemo cocktail to start me on. He is going to get me a biopsy and then a local (very highly rated) cancer research facility is (hopefully) going to do gene sequencing on the sample to help plan a course of treatment. All this sounds pretty high tech and I am just plain old low-tech scared. I sure hope they come up with a good smart bomb for this. Has anybody else been through this?

You may want to post your comment on other sites of CSN. Your situation is probably relevant on multiple cancer type sites. I'm sure some other folks have experieced your issue, just maybe not on H&N.
Good luck on finding out more info...

Glad to hear it. Me, I'm blissfully ignorant when it comes to gene sequencing, but seems to me it'd be great to pre-test chemos to see which work better rather than jump in with a trial and error approach on the entire person.
