Some Good News

I know I can't top Ayse's news, but I did get some good news of my own today. I was scheduled to have 4 rounds of AC and 12 of TC (with Herceptin) starting next week. My wonderful ONC called me today and they were able to send my tumor off and have it tested to see which type of chemo it reacted best to. It only reacted to one of them. So instead of having to have all of them, I'll now only have to have 12 treatments of Taxol and the original 52 of Herceptin. I'm not sure if I like the idea that it only reacted to one, but at least I won't be taking them needlessly. I know it still has crappy side effects (which is why I call it all "crappy crap"), but thinking it has to be easier to tolerate one versus 4 types of chemo.

I couldn't wait to come home and share my news. Now hearing about Ayse's - that's a cherry on top!

Big Hugs,
Debi~

    More good news!
You sound happy and relieved at this news--good for you. It's true--why should you put your body through taking chemo that won't have any effect on making you well again. Good luck with your next phase of treatment.

Thanks all!! Yes, I am relieved. I was prepared for all of it but really dreading it all the same. I'm not dreading it quite as much now. As always, thanks for being there - you are all truly a blessing!

    That's great news Debi!
It's awesome that they can now perform these types of tests to find out such important information. Why take something needlessly and suffer the side effects when you don't have to?

    I'm happy for you!

    I think it's good news
The test showed that the tumor reacts to Taxol - so you know you're going after any potential remaining cells with the right stuff. Not only no A/C, but you know what you're doing will be effective.

    Go get 'em!

    Debi,
that is good news. No point doing a chemo that would not be helpful in fighting the beast. Glad you shared this news.
